So...Live Journal is up again. Huzzah!

What a crazy news day. I've been glued to MSNBC ever since word of Michael Jackson's death came out. At the time I turned it on, they hadn't confirmed it yet.

They're comparing this to the deaths of Elvis and John Lennon, but that doesn't put it into any sort of context for me, since I was too young when they died. This is more like the death of Princess Diana to me. Michael Jackson was really only important to me when I was a kid...I remember playing his Thriller album obsessively and I had a bit of a crush on him when I was in elementary school. And in the Bad era, just as I was hitting puberty, he had his place among my teen heartthrobs. He left my radar somewhere around my graduation from high school and I didn't pay much attention except for when he was on the news. (Although when HIStory came out, I LOVED the "Scream" video.)

But, as I said on Twitter, this is one of those "where were you when you heard the news?" moments. And where was I? On the couch, browsing the Internet. Where I found the news on Twitter.

I was waking up from a nap. My mom woke me up for dinner and said "Michael Jackson died of a heart attack."

LOL. I was in the pool at the J and heard one of the lifeguards tell another guard.

See, now, not to sound callous, but I don't really care. To me, he was a creepy has-been.

I was on my sofa right after getting up.

There isn't all that much in he news over here, certainly not as much as there was when Lady Di died.

Really? As popular as he still is in Germany?

I find that odd.

It's on the news but there are no 24/7 exclusive reports that stop all other shows like back then. They keep playing him on the radio though which is kind of nice, I like his music!
