Jul. 24th, 2009 10:30 pmJust got back from Mercer Island.
Tonight was fun. I wasn't particularly fond of this Shakespeare performance, but it was a good evening.
I met Lisa at her place. We waited for her boyfriend to arrive and then we drove to Mercer Island, stopped at I Love Pho for dinner, and then went to the park. We got there just as the performance started.
This performance of The Taming of the Shrew was set in a trailer park, complete with Deep South accents and music that sounded like something out of Deliverance. Honestly, there were some really funny moments (Lisa and I were giggling at the Hooters t-shirt that appeared on different characters at various times), but I was more interested in watching the audience after awhile. I'm such a traditionalist when it comes to Shakespeare that I couldn't really groove on it.
That being said, it seemed the actors were having a blast, and I really like the actress who played Kate.
Once the play ended, we stopped at Baskin-Robbins and then called it a night.
