My Day Without the Internet
Aug. 17th, 2009 07:07 amFirst of all, if you ever tell people that you're going to take a day off the Internet, don't do what I did and text a status update for Facebook from your cellphone. I don't have Internet access on my phone, but everybody thought I did, so I got a few messages teasing me about cheating. I DID NOT CHEAT! Internet was off limits. Texting was not.
Anyway, I got a lot accomplished yesterday. My day was mostly work and little play, but that was fine. A project that has needed doing for awhile got done.
Let's see...so I walked Reece twice yesterday. One short walk and one longer walk with Lance. I gave myself a pedicure. Wrote a really long entry in my paper journal. Read a lot (finished a novel and read some various books/magazines). Went to the library. Ran errands with Lance, which resulted in us going to Target and getting an electric skillet.
And here's where I ended up doing the unexpected work on the project. I had to find room for this skillet. Our kitchen is pretty limited in terms of storage. So I went through cabinets and drawers, getting rid of things we don't need/use and rearranging what was left. All the cabinets and drawers under the countertops are completely rearranged in a way that makes so much more sense. There is room for everything now and it's neatly organized.
I also did some other cleaning that needed doing.
Lance and I had a cookout and sat out on the patio for dinner. It was nice.
I think that's everything, but that's a lot in one day. I realize just how much time I waste online. Yes, I do a lot of constructive things on it too...research, work, etc. But I need to make a conscious effort to spend less time just browsing around for no good reason and actually take care of real life things that need to be done.
