I started a long, angsty post this morning and decided against posting it. I've been feeling kind of down for the past couple days, but I think the things I'm feeling are too personal right now for me to post. I think they're issues I need to delve into through my paper journal.

I'm trying to make this a productive week. So far, so good. I'm gradually increasing my writing gig hours, and it helps that my current project is the most interesting of the projects I've done so far. I have about 2 more hours of that to do today. I have a book review to write up tonight for The Wandering Heart by Mary Malloy. This one is a head-scratcher, because there are so many things going on in the plot. It's hard to condense it down to a summary and review.

Reece and I took a 10 minute walk after I finished this morning's writing session. Then I ate lunch. I have to get back to work here shortly and do my afternoon session, followed by some research.

I got some bad news last night from the Guam contingent. I called my Grandma this morning to notify her of this hideous change in plans. I need to call my Mom a little later on. I really hate being the bearer of bad news, but Mom doesn't check her email everyday, so she may not get my sister-in-law's message. She'll be crushed. I'm not exactly in a happy mood, but I also know that there are never any guarantees when it comes to the military, except for the guarantee that things probably won't work out as planned. So I can't say I'm really surprised about their orders getting cancelled. I'm just frustrated and angry.

In other news, I'm reading a book about low GI eating. I'm trying to convince Lance to change from his paleo diet to a low GI diet. He keeps sending me info about the paleo diet, which seems sound in theory, except it really isn't appropriate for him. Example:

Me: "So...if you're not allowed to eat dairy, how are you supposed to get calcium? What other foods are you allowed to eat that contain calcium?" (I already know the answer to this, btw...I just wanted to give him some food for thought.)

Lance: *Google searches* "Uhm...broccoli and almonds."

Me: "Broccoli and almonds, huh? Great. EXCEPT YOU HATE BROCCOLI AND ALMONDS!"

Also, from the Fruits & Veggies More Matters website:
The following vegetables are considered dietary sources of calcium: spinach, collard greens, turnip greens, kale, white beans, okra, soybeans, beet greens and Chinese cabbage.

Sure...but Lance doesn't like any of the above foods either. (And notice that broccoli isn't on that list, so I wonder what website he consulted.)

So...I suppose if he wants to stay on the paleo diet, he either needs to start taking a calcium supplement or risk getting brittle bone disease. Since he wants me to talk to his trainer/nutritionist, I will make it a point to inform her of this. Or he can drink chocolate milk, since she says it's ok (I'm still scratching my head over this). He lost 8 pounds since he started this, so he's feeling very encouraged, but I also see that he's eating way less, so I don't necessarily think it's what he's eating as much as it is portion size.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm feeling kind of sore and stiff from sitting all day. I wish I had a more comfortable place to work. The couch isn't doing it for me because I slouch too much and then my shoulders and neck get so sore. Maybe I need to play with Reece a little bit and loosen up before I start this afternoon's work.
