I just remember my mom telling me that when she had to take my grandparents' dogs to get euthanized, she couldn't face being in the room with them when it was done. I think that's one of her biggest regrets in life, because she is sure they needed her to be with them.
She made it a point to be with Taffy when they put her down 3 years ago. This is always what she has been telling me for years...it's important to be there with them. They know when you're not. :(
