Annual Organ Donation Post

It's October 9th again. Twenty years ago on this day, my best friend Sherry Payne died at age 14. She died waiting for a heart and lung transplant. She didn't have to die. But in 1989, there were more people waiting for organ donations than there were donors. Sadly, this is still the case.
Every year, I urge anyone reading this to consider organ donation. And I usually get quite a few comments from people telling me that they've already done so. It's really such a simple act, but one of the most generous. Please give someone the chance at life that my friend Sherry never had.

From the website:
Each day, about 77 people receive organ transplants. However, 19 people die each day waiting for transplants that can't take place because of the shortage of donated organs.
