I have never NEVER felt like punching someone in the face more than I do right now.

I just got back from taking Reece on a walk. We had barely started our walk, when a car pulled up alongside me and I heard a man's voice say, "Excuse me?"

I looked over at his car. He had what I assume to be his wife and 2 kids in the vehicle. So I thought he was going to ask me for directions or something.

But no. He looked at me and asked, "Have you seen any little n-ggers running around here?"

After several seconds of gaping at him in shock, horror, disgust and incredulity, I finally said "no", and he drove off. And I told the rear end of his vehicle that he is an asshole.

What I should have said was, "Maybe you should look for them in 1860, when words like that were still socially acceptable."

I am so angry. SO ANGRY. And it ruined my whole walk. Up until some cute little kids and their parents (grandparents?) came by and stopped to pet Reece.

I'm afraid I would've been tempted to keep asking "Seen what?", to see if he would end up shouting it loud enough for everyone around him to hear.

Sadly, there was nobody around within earshot of our conversation. I was standing by a wooded area at the end of the subdivision, and the only people I saw besides him were two little kids down the street.

If the kids were white, maybe you should've pointed to them to see what his reaction would be.

They weren't. They might have been the kids he was looking for, but they were hiding in the backseat of a car. They came out after his car drove by.

Some people are still so damn ignorant. I can't stand to hear that word either. It makes me see red more than any other word.

There is simply no excuse for this at all. And what bothered me most was that his kids were in the backseat and will probably grow up using that kind of language.

Holy shit. I would have totally went off on him. Doesn't he realize it's 2009!?

I was too shocked to even know how to respond. I was almost literally picking my jaw up from the sidewalk.

My response could have been something along the line of "No...but we are just plum covered up with racist assholes. I think they are waiting for you over there."

Lance said pretty much the same thing. I should have responded, "No, but the local KKK chapter meets around the corner."

That is disturbing. I'd be left wondering if he was looking for little African American kiddos to kidnap or something. I'd be left with a feeling of with that spooked out EEEK feeling that causes ones arm hairs to stand on end.

It was disturbing. It's been bothering me all day. Even though I'm clearly not the one with the problem.

Yeah, I would really be worried about those kids--the ones you thought he might have been looking for.

He didn't seem particularly angry, but then again, it's hard to know. I'm just glad I didn't see any of the kids he seemed to be looking for (the 2 kids hiding in the backseat of their parents' car were super tiny...probably too small to even be allowed to leave their yard, but what do I know?).

I'm also worried about the kids he had in his car and how they're going to be indoctrinated by this creep.

It makes me sad that such morons still exist. :/

I try so hard to avoid them, usually. But sometimes, they steamroll right over me.

Some days I wonder why I bother to leave the house.
