After MJ's death, I became fascinated (and enraged) at how the media covered everything, and what they were willing to say in the interest of ratings and money. I guess it's the former journalism major in me. I know the media twists things. Many times, they are far more interested in getting the viewer's attention than they are in telling the truth. The truth is hardly ever interesting.

I'm glad this guy, Charles Thomson, had the balls to step up and debunk a lot of the ridiculous myths that so many people consider to be truth. Myths that continue to be perpetuated, even after MJ's death.

Anyone who believed in the allegations would have discovered for themselves that MJ was innocent all along, had they bothered to do their own research.

I was always skeptical that he was guilty of anything. And after his death, I did my own research and came to the conclusion that he was innocent. Even a prominent true crime author - Aphrodite Jones - was planning to write a book about the case that painted him to be some horrible monster. But after she researched the facts of the case, she wrote a book (which she published at her own expense - no publisher was interested in publishing a book that proved his innocence. Innocence doesn't sell books.) to try and clear his name.

So anyway, I thought I would link this, for all the people that still make comments that have no basis in fact. And because I'm so freaking sick of the media and their false reporting. It happens all the time, but this is probably one of the best examples of it.

I feel so bad for the man. Abused in childhood, forced to sing and dance to make money for everybody else (maybe he enjoyed it), taken advantage of in every turn, painted with the worst accusations that can never be erased even if one is innocent, battled addictions and body dysmorphia (the latter likely triggered by his father's comments about his face when he was a kid, not to mention the vitiligo), and dies at an early age with three kids left behind.

He didn't stand a chance.

And from what it looks like, his death is the best thing to happen for his father and siblings. They are capitalizing like no other. His brothers making a reality show documentary thing about their reunion. Janet is on every talk show. Mama Katherine and Rebbie are the only two in that family that have had any damn sense and the former is the only one caring for those children's welfare. Keep them away from Papa Joe.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, except I've seen LaToya everywhere since MJ's death. Janet has only been on Spotlight with Robin Roberts, and that was just last week. I watched about half an hour of that interview before we went to bed, and I could tell it was very difficult for her to do. She was trying so hard not to cry the whole time. I don't think she's ready to talk about it like LaToya does at every turn (LaToya just needs to STFU, in my opinion. She's said a lot of crazy stuff.)

But Janet is out there promoting the release of her Number Ones album. She'll be performing on the AMAs tonight, which I'm excited about. I've been a Janet fan for years. I hate to say this, but I think her brother's death will probably help her career out right now. I think the release date for her album was all planned out prior to his death, so I would like to think this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

=( That is so sad. I feel awful for him. He was such a people pleaser that he tried to help others at the expense of himself.

He gave so much to others. I think I read that his charitable donations were over $500 million. But people don't consider that. They just think about how much plastic surgery he had (I honestly don't think he had as much as the general public believes he had. I think his looks kept changing drastically because his skin kept getting lighter due to the vitiligo. And a change in hairstyle would also change his looks enough to make people suspect it). Or how "weird" he was. (Who isn't weird? Seriously. We all have things about us that people would consider weird.) He was abused so much as a child that he had a very skewed view of himself that tormented him his entire life.

The more I think about it, the more it bothers me. I truly believe the allegations against him set him on the downward spiral that ultimately led to his death. And the allegations were just that - allegations - there was no proof whatsoever that he was ever inappropriate with children. But because some greedy asshole (who is now dead by his own hand) felt entitled to some of MJ's millions, MJ was made a monster in the eyes of the general public. Nobody took a look at his accuser to see what a creep and liar he was. They just took everything he said as gospel, because MJ was a "freak," so surely he must've done all those awful things.

Sometimes, I hate people.
