I have a ton of mini marshmallows in the pantry. The only way I can think to use them is for Rice Krispie treats.

So I have Rice Krispies on my shopping list.

Now the big question...how should I make them? I'm kind of feeling peanut butter and chocolate. Maybe mix some peanut butter with the marshmallows. Add cereal and M&Ms.

The possibilities are endless...

So LJ Land, tell me....how do you make your Rice Krispie treats?

I usually only make mine in the Fall, during October. I make them with candy corn and peanuts, (or just candy corn). By November/December, we're usually burned out on them already. ;)

Incidently, a few friends of mine and I were laughing about another friend who thought that you baked Rice Krispie Treats in an oven. She's also one of the skinniest of us. :X

This is a recipe my grandma makes all the time. If you like chocolate and peanut butter, you'll love it. (has chocolate topping as well, which is the kicker for me.)

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BARS
Melt together 1/2 c. butter, 1 c. chocolate chips, 1 c, peanut butter (I use chunky) 40 marshmallows.
Add 4 c. Rice Krispies, 1 c. salted peanuts and mix together.
Spread mixture in greased jelly roll pan (15 1/2 x 10 1/2) or cookie sheet. While still warm, spread with topping:

TOPPING:Melt together 1 c. chocolate chips, 1/4 c. milk, 1/4 c. butter. Beat in 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar. Spread over RK mixture and cool.

Ooooh. Yummmmmmm! I would leave out the peanuts, because Lance isn't a fan, but that sounds so good!

Oh, and by the way, the 40 is for the big marshmallows, so if you've got the mini ones you'd have to convert that.

Good to know. I think that's about 2 cups, but only because I've seen that conversion before.

And, not to micromanage your baking, but I'd add an extra cup of Krispies if you take out the peanuts, otherwise it might end up too sticky.

Good idea. I don't like extra sticky krispie treats.

Actually 4 cups. Not 2. No caffeine yet today, so I still have cobwebs in my brain. :P
