You really should try to come up for this. It's very much worth it, I assure you. Make a weekend of it and spend the night around La Conner somewhere, or maybe Mt. Vernon.
It's difficult to think of leaving here, believe me.
I think I will plan a week-end trip soon, at least one night. It makes Chet happy to do something once in a while and we have never explored Skagit valley.
The tulips should peak in 1-2 weeks, but even if you don't make it up during the tulip festival, it's still a beautiful area. La Conner is pretty much the most charming town ever. There are some nice bed & breakfasts around there.
If you come up during the tulip festival, you probably won't be able to stay in that area. Everything's probably booked solid by now.
