Having visited Hitler's Eagle's Nest recently, I found this article interesting...

So you took an artifact from the Eagle's Nest after the war, and now you want to sell it. Shouldn't it...uh...go back to the place from whence it came? I mean, shouldn't they get first crack at it before it goes to auction?

Now that the Eagle's Nest is a tourist attraction, it would only be fitting for the globe to be displayed there again, particularly since they have so few items from the time that Hitler lived there, on account of it being looted after the war.

I wonder if the Bavarian government may try to buy it back.

Tonight's book club discussion was on I, Mona Lisa...a really fabulous book, particularly if you like historical fiction.

Our discussion was okay, but the hostess of the evening hadn't quite finished the novel (she was a couple chapters from the end), so we couldn't discuss anything that gave away the ending. It wasn't one of the longer discussions we had.

Our conversation then turned to other subjects. And we ate. Half the group was in a crackers, cheese and fruit state of mind this evening, it seemed. But crackers, cheese and fruit are still perfectly lovely edibles...particularly the goat cheese with cranberry port chutney. Yum. I could've eaten that all night, but I limited myself to two crackers. My peanut butter pumpkin bread (which I baked last week and froze) was a big hit...several requests for the recipe.

It was a nice evening. Most of the ladies didn't know that I was leaving, so I had to give everyone the details. I made it clear that I planned to be at next month's meeting though.

One of our members is being induced tomorrow...she's been pregnant with twins for what seems like ages, and when I last saw her in June, she already looked ready to pop. I can't even imagine what she looks like right now. So I don't know if I'll see her next month or not. She says she plans to come back, and it would be nice to see her before I go.

Anyway, I came home to find Lance working on things. But he's listening to The Doors right now, and other than a few of their songs, I find their music annoying. So I'm hoping he decides to go to bed here soon. He has to be at work super early tomorrow anyway.
