Lance is on his way to McChord, if not there already. Promotion test today.

If everyone could send some positive thoughts his way, I would appreciate it! We could really use the raise! And getting a promotion wouldn't be bad for him either. ;)

ETA: Part one of the test is done. He called me to tell me that he thought he kicked ass on it. ;) Part two is about to start, but that's the hardest part of the test.

Just as I was messaging my friend Sam to tell him that my self-esteem these days has been intimately connected to my employability, a new email notification came in.

It was a request for a job interview next week.

Perhaps this day isn't completely shot to hell after all.

ETA: Tuesday at 1 pm.

Good things:
- short commute
- lots of opportunities for advancement in the company
- benefits looks pretty good (tuition reimbursement...hooray!)
- named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" by Fortune Magazine (but then again, it seems like most companies make this claim...or at least the ones I've been applying to)

I have a math test to do for New! Potential! Job!, but considering my earlier upset and my lack of sleep last night, I am too foggy-headed for such things at the moment. And I've always sucked at math besides. I am allowed to use a calculator, but I cannot locate one at the moment. And the one on my computer is too slow to use, as it's a timed test.

(Why a math test? There is no small degree of accounting involved in this job, and obviously that isn't my background.)

So..I have another 22.5 hours to complete it, and it's only 20 minutes long. I think a short nap may be in order first. I must text Lance to ask him if he knows where a calculator is. I downloaded the company's handy study guide for business math, which will supposedly help me with the test. And I have some chores to do...maybe they will clear my head.

I have to vacuum and I just started doing laundry.

But first, nap.

About Lance's promotion test -

He thought he did very well on part 1. Not so much on part 2. We won't know for a few months yet what the results will be, but the last time he got promoted, he thought he did poorly on the exam. So you never know.

I think he just pulled into the driveway, so he's home for the day.

An old high school friend found me through Facebook. Normally, I would be fairly indifferent to any contact from people I knew then. But she was actually a friend and we just lost touch after high school and I'm happy she found me. It'll be nice to catch up and see what she's doing now. Come to think of it, I think we were closer friends in middle school than we were in high school, but it's still neat.

I just got a letter from my doctor. Dammit! I just found a doctor that I really like and she's leaving to work at a different clinic. Now I have to use one of the other doctors in that office (I hope there is another woman) or switch to a different clinic. GAH!!

I have some cheesy bread and a pepperoni pizza from Papa Murphy's in the fridge at the moment. Probably not the best dinner, as I've been somewhat sick to my stomach all day (this happens when I get upset), but I'm not making another grocery run until at least tomorrow or Saturday.

WTF? I just took the assessment tests for potential new job and first of all, how is a warm-up test only one question? And how do they honestly expect me to do 20 fairly complex math problems in 8 minutes? I think I really screwed up that part. Doesn't help that I am a bundle of nerves today.

The reasoning portion was at least more...reasonable. Fifteen questions and five minutes for that, but I'm really better at that type of test. I answered all but 3 of the questions in the allotted time.

Oh...I really don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Please let something else come along too, so I don't have to pin all my hopes on just one job interview.
