*sigh*

The adoption has hit a snag. I was afraid of this.

Yes, we were told that we could have her. All we needed to do was finish the adoption paperwork and send the required things (photos of the exterior of our house, a utility bill with our legal address). We jumped through all the hoops.

And now we're being told that Reece would be very lonely being left alone all day, even if Lance came home at lunch to let her out. And that our adoption is now dependent upon our agreeing to either enroll her in doggie daycare or find someone we trust to watch her during the day while we're at work.

I'm sorry, but Lance and I both believe that having someone with Reece every single second of every hour of everyday would leave her completely dependent on people and she wouldn't develop any independence whatsoever. She needs to learn to be okay by herself. It will benefit her in her adult life. Our plan was to crate her in the mornings and afternoons while we're at work, and to leave a radio on so that she can have the soothing sounds of human voices and music. It worked for my sister-in-law when she was raising Koda from a puppy to an adult, and Koda is a fantastic, well adjusted dog.

I forwarded this email (which I got from the woman who runs the shelter) to the woman who fosters Reece, just to get her opinion on the whole matter. We let her know that we planned to leave Reece alone for 4-5 hours everyday, and she didn't seem to think it was a problem.

We may have to give this whole thing up. I'm getting really frustrated and angry. But for now, I still think Reece is worth it.

Dog stuff aside, Lance and I got a lot accomplished over the weekend. I think it is in large part due to our expectations of bringing a dog home next weekend.

Last night I cleaned out the guest room. I cleared all the clutter and organized it into the closet. So the closet is crammed full of stuff, but at least the room is clear. And I sorted through things we no longer needed and put them in the ever-growing Goodwill pile.

Lance started rearranging the living room. The current set-up is much better now. He just finished it a short while ago. The room is very narrow, but long, so there is plenty of space to move around in.

Yesterday I got some small appliances: a new hairdryer and a immersion blender/food chopper/electric knife combo. Didn't really need the electric knife, but I wanted an immersion blender and a food processor, so this gives me 2 in one. I plan to use the chopper later on this week to make the black bean and mango salsa that I'll be taking to the Caribbean Bunco party on Friday night.

Today, we got a new vacuum cleaner. Our Dirt Devil doesn't pick up dirt worth crap. We have a Eureka The Boss Smart Vac. Lance did some research on it and found out that it works more effectively than a Dyson, and it was considerably cheaper. So far, I like it.

Lance is currently hanging a tapestry on the wall. We are just trying to knock out as many small household projects as possible, particularly since he is leaving AGAIN on Wednesday morning for Oklahoma City. *sigh* But he is supposed to be back late on Friday night, so at least it's only for a couple days. I'll be picking him up after Bunco.

Well, the dryer just beeped, so I guess I have some sheets to fold. I still have to clean the master bathroom.

And I'm extremely tired and still a bit jetlagged, so none of this has come easy for me this weekend.

I dread tomorrow. First day on the phones. I'm terrified. I'm trying very hard not to think about it. At this point, I just want to get it over with.
