Reece's Big Day
May. 23rd, 2008 09:29 pmImagine my surprise: when I showed up to our weekly Friday meeting this morning, the hub manager asked me first thing, "so when are you bringing your puppy to the office?"
It became a motion for voting. It was unanimously decided that I had to bring her in for a visit.
So...Lance was off work today and had planned to meet me for lunch anyway. I called to ask if he could come a little early so I could bring Reece into the office. He had to go out and get a harness to strap her onto the seatbelt, but we were planning to get one anyway.
He showed up about 10 minutes before the lunch break. When we walked into the door (he called me and I went down to the building entrance to meet him), the hub manager was already crouched on the floor, waiting to take Reece into her arms. What followed was a few minutes of cuddles and belly rubs, and then I took Reece into my section, where all my co-workers swarmed her.
She loved it. She's such an attention whore. Finally, one of them said, "so that's your husband, huh?" HAHAHAHA. Lance replied, "pay no attention to the man behind the leash. I'm just the animal handler."
After that excitement, we all got in the truck and drove down the street to Burger King. Reece slept almost the entire time. I guess all the excitement wore her out. I was sitting in the back seat. Lance and I ate our lunch in the truck and talked for a bit. Then he dropped me back off at work. Reece was upset when I got out of the truck and walked away. But a short while later, Lance sent me a cellphone photo of Reece zonked out on her doggie bed, so I guess she didn't miss me for too long. ;)
And now she is unofficially the Paychex mascot.
