May. 28th, 2008 07:49 pmReece and I just had an epic battle and I think I finally won. Lance had to come out and referee only when he realized that it was getting really ugly.
She kept chewing on some baskets I had in the living room. So I moved them into the guest room, which is closed off to her. So in lieu of that, she started chewing on my laptop cord. I told her no repeatedly and pulled her off the cord, rolling her on her back each time. I held her down on her back, but she kept trying to bite me.
Well, this worked her up into a frenzy more and more each time I did it, and when I finally stood up, she kept jumping up at me, teeth bared. I anticipated it and lifted my knee up to chest height to block her each time she did it. She fell backwards several times and I rolled her over again each time.
Finally, Lance came out and he rolled her over again and held her down for a really long time. After that, she got very very quiet and still, and right now she's laying on the living room carpet, kind of in a daze. It's a little eerie, truth be told, but I hope this means that we've finally established the Alphas of the pack. Lance pretty much established himself as Alpha male early on, and she gives him much fewer problems than she gives me.
Right after dinner, we were watching the news, and suddenly she just looked at me for no apparent reason, growled at me, and then barked. So I really don't know what's going on in her head, but it's been a real power struggle between the two of us this past week and a half. I'm trying to hard to do well by her, but it's so difficult when she is constantly biting me.

Anyway...Farlis called me this morning and told me that she had free passes to see Sex and the City at the AMC Theatre on Friday night, so we're going. She is making a night of it and having drinks afterwards with a bunch of girlfriends. Not sure if I'll do that part of the festivities, but I'm absolutely game for seeing the movie. I can't wait!
Speaking of free...Duke's Chowder House just sent me a coupon for a free birthday dinner. YAY! Lance won't be here to celebrate with me, since he'll be TDY that week, but I can hopefully convince a friend to join me there for dinner.
