Lance is going to attempt to fly standby today so he can get home earlier.

Which is all good and fine, but I have no idea how he's going to keep me in the loop. His cellphone wasn't working last night. It had power and everything...it even had reception...it just couldn't call or text or take incoming calls or texts.

He's hoping it was just a fluke and his phone will be fine today.

He had to call me last night with his calling card. I almost didn't answer the phone because it was around 9:30 and I didn't recognize the number on caller ID, since I expected Lance to call my cell on his cell.

So I got the number to his hotel room and called him back.

Anyway, I hope he gets something sorted out and he can come home early. I've already given the heads up at work that I may have an early departure today. It helps that my supervisor is former military...he completely understands about this sort of thing. Lance just needs to find a way to get in touch with me if his cellphone still isn't working.

And if that's the case, then I see a trip to the Verizon store in our immediate future.

Today has been made of spectacular fail, except where a few things are concerned:

1> Starbucks Eggnog Latte - where the hell has this drink been all my life? Sure, it's probably not new to most of you, but this was the first time I ever felt like trying it. It won't be the last.

2> The bowl of awesome deliciousness I had for lunch. I have no idea what it's called...it was Korean. I just ordered item K1 on the menu and hoped for the best (there was a picture of it on the menu, but no description of what it was). What I got was a giant bowl of steamed rice with steamed veggies (mushrooms, spinach, bean sprouts, zucchini and carrot), chopped beef, and a fried egg on top. Served with a sauce on the side that was like some sort of spicy ketchup (probably chili sauce?). Holy Mother of God. Amazing. That is my new favorite meal at Chopstick Teriyaki.

ETA: I found it on Wikipedia, although the meal I had was much more beautiful in its presentation. And the "chili paste" it supposedly comes with tastes exactly like ketchup, only with a little kick.

3> Electric Reindeer White Zinfandel - now available at a World Market near you! $5 per bottle! I grabbed 3. Also, some of their mozzarella and proscuitto stuffed olives. Can't wait to try those.

4> Bath and Body Works - got a free 2 oz. lotion (Black Amethyst scent) and $10 off. Picked up a small gift to save for Christmas...not sure who to give it to yet, but it's very appropriate for an office gift exchange (as long as I get a female recipient). For myself, I got a couple of mint lip glosses, some slippers, and a new mirror compact. I had gone in to buy some of their skincare line, but their dual action cleanser doesn't have any sort of toner to go with it. I might keep looking around and experimenting with different brands.

Best of all...

LANCE IS ON HIS WAY HOME!! Couldn't get an earlier flight, unfortunately. But he'll be here in less than 2 hours.

Also...IT'S THE WEEKEND!

I have a mini Tombstone pizza in the toaster oven right now. I think another amazing meal on the same day might put me over the edge, so I need something a bit mundane.
