Today...

...wasn't as bad as I anticipated.

Busy, yes. But nothing weird, super stressful or annoying came up. And the day went by really fast.

Tomorrow looks to be more of the same, pending any unforeseen circumstances arising.

Went to lunch at Baja Fresh today. I have never been there. It was DELICIOUS! So tasty. I had pork tacos with rice and black beans and never even missed the cheese or the sour cream (although I swiped Teresa's guacamole and pico de gallo because she didn't want it, and I love guac and pico).

Definitely going back there. I can't believe I've never been there before.

I have sloppy joe casserole in the oven now. Going to load up my plate with casserole, corn and a big pile of pickles. And I must have chocolate milk.

Hmmm...

I've been regularly perusing craigslist, looking for just the right opportunity to break back into a freelance writing career. I want to re-establish it slowly. The goal is to eventually work up to full-time...something I wish I had done when I was in Germany. But it was more of a hobby to me then. I didn't take it seriously enough to pursue it full-time.

I stumbled on what I think is the most perfect opportunity for me. So I'm giving it a shot. We'll see where it goes. It's part-time, but it appears to be a long-term contract position. And it pays pretty well. And it will get me back into what I love the most - travel writing. Which I am still doing, only I'm now focused on the local area. Which is perfect, because that's exactly what this opportunity is about.

For the first time in a long time, I'm feeling optimistic.

I'm 1/3 of the way through my technical writing course.

Four quizzes. All 100%.

The last one was about grammar and punctuation, which is one of my strengths. I've always been captivated, not just by English literature, but by the English language itself and the way it changes with the times. I collect style guides. Who does that? Really? I'm just a word geek. A punctuation geek. A grammar geek. (And yes, I am deliberately writing in sentence fragments. Not acceptable in an academic paper, say, but perfectly fine in creative writing.)

I think I may have found a class on PR/Marketing to be a little more useful, because that is still requires a more creative style of writing than technical writing does. But maybe I can take that class later.
