So I got an email this morning. It was a comment made on my Brugge/Ghent post from 5 years ago - when Lance and I were on our honeymoon.

Honeymun.com posted my blog post on their website. They linked it back to me and everything, so it's not like I didn't get credit for it. They just left me a comment to let me know that they used my post.

They didn't ask. They just took.

No harm done, as far as I can tell. The website just seems to be a dumping ground for any and all blog posts/websites with honeymoon information - trying to consolidate everything in one place, I guess. I don't see where my post is particularly useful to anyone, especially since the hotel we stayed at in Brugge doesn't even exist anymore. It could spark ideas for things to do and see, I suppose, if one plans to go to Brugge or Ghent on their honeymoon.

But I'm getting away from the point. It seems to me that my permission should've been asked first before my material was used on this site. Or am I crazy to think so? I mean, what if I don't like their site or don't want to be associated with it? I've been approached by other websites before regarding material on my blog, and they've always asked permission before using it. They never left me a comment after they took it to tell me that they took it and sent me the link to where I can find it. This just strikes me as being the wrong approach.

What say you, Live Journalers? How would you feel in this situation? I mean, any plug for my blog is good. I'm just a little uncomfortable with my writing being posted somewhere without my consent, you know?

Took Reece down to the farmers' market this morning. They expanded some from last year, but there still wasn't a lot to it. And surprisingly little produce. But I still picked up some dip mixes/meatloaf seasoning and some spicy snack mix from Punjab Sweets.

I walked her around the downtown parks for a bit, snapped a few photographs, and then came back home. Don't really have anything else planned for the rest of the day. I will probably spend a lot of time reading. The Devlin Diary is really good and I'm anxious to write up the review.

Need to get a little writing in too today.

I need to go to the library this coming week and do some research. How odd that I don't go to the library much, but considering all the free books I get for review, I haven't had need to check out any books in awhile.

And I won't be checking out any books this time either...probably. Although I might see what cookbooks they have. I'm just going to browse the magazines and make lists of ideas I might pitch and what publications I might query. I think I need to branch out a bit because my writing is too focused on travel and I have more experience in that topic than anything else. And now that circumstances are different and I no longer have Europe waiting outside my door, I need to pursue some other topics.

So...I suppose I need to sit down and make a list of things I may be interested in writing more about. I have done some art and history writing to some extent, seeing as how that's part of travel writing, but maybe I can give more attention to those topics. Kathy has been telling me that I should do more food writing. Or maybe I can tap into some of the topics I wrote about in grad school, but just not in an academic way. Lots of possibilities...
