If you remember, about a month and a half ago, I posted pictures of the outside of our new house. Those pictures are here:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/little_liebchen/511867.html

Now, after a month spent unpacking, cleaning, and organizing, I feel that the inside of the house is mostly ready for photographing. So here are the pictures I took today. The office and guest room are not included here. Neither is the basement. I will photograph those at a later time.

There are A LOT of photos here, so I'm putting them behind the cut. Dial-up users, beware!

This is what you see when you enter the house and look to the right - the spiral staircase. I'm going to do something to that space underneath the staircase where that wreath is hanging. I'm going to change the wreaths every season. I want to get some nesting tables to put there and change out displays with the seasons as well.

Looking straight ahead from the entrance. To the left - the entrance to the kitchen. To the right, the half bath and there is also a hidden area for coats and shoes. By the way, I picked out the light and Lance installed it.

The half bath

Looking to the left from the entrance - into the living room. I'm looking for a tapestry to cover up that ugly fuse box.

Our front door. The curtains were bought at IKEA and I hemmed them myself (not very well, but hey, I did it).

Let's go into the kitchen...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I am looking for a bistro table to put there by the window. This kitchen deserves a nice place for me to sit and clip coupons, go over recipes, or just pass the time while I'm waiting for something to cook.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My primary work space. Look at all the cabinets! There are more above the sink, oven, and dishwasher.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My oven is so cool! My kitchen rocks!

A quick look at where I do my laundry, which is off the kitchen.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

You'll see there's a shower stall in there. We never plan to use it, so Lance used it to hook up our washing machine so it would have hot water. There is also a sink in there, which is just behind the doorway. The room is cramped because I also store cleaning supplies in there. Behind the door is a strip of nails and hooks where I hang my brooms and mops and ironing board.

Now...into the dining room...

Lance installed the ceiling fan. YAY! That ugly dark brown cabinet, by the way, is on loan from Schinnen. I needed it in the kitchen at the old house, but I don't need it here. But they won't come get it. So I'm stuck with it. Yuck. And eventually, we're going to get a new dining set.

Looking toward the kitchen.

And behind where this picture was taken is the living room area...

Now, let's go upstairs.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

At the top of the steps, looking to the left. This is the door leading out to a small balcony.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Looking to the right, the hallway. The office is where the open door is, but it's still a mess. The bathroom is the closed door you see. The guest room is beyond that. You also can't see our bedroom door.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Our bedroom. Considerably smaller than our old one, but a small price to pay for a nicer house.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We just hung those Brugge prints above our bed yesterday. We bought them on our honeymoon.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Where that table is, I'm going to find some pretty fabric to drape across the wall. There are some really big ugly holes in the wall that were left by the previous tenants that I want to cover up.

Now, the master bath...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We still need curtains for the window. The glass is not frosted, obviously, and even though there is nothing behind our house, there is a walking trail and you never know who is back in the fields. I'm going to put up some cafe-style curtains, so at least half the window is covered. That will give us enough privacy.

It might look like our bathroom only has a tub, but there is a shower stall too (you can see just a bit of it on the left). You can't really see it very well in these photos.

YAY! So that's our house! Still a work in progress, but it's starting to really feel like home.

Yes! And I am going to decorate...and decorate...and decorate! Most of the stuff in the living room and dining room is from Lance's bachelor days, so there is still quite a bit of my touch to be added to the house.

That's a very nice house! You can really get a place like that in Europe with military and part-time pay? Maybe we can go sooner than we think.

And it needs a cat.

I contribute nothing to the household income, so it's all Lance's pay. The rent is about 700 euro per month, but when you move overseas, you get mad COLA, so you can definitely get a nice house IF YOU LIVE IN THE RIGHT AREA. We are at a NATO base, and the rents around here are actually pretty cheap in comparison with the rest of Germany.

A lot of places require you to live on base housing though. So you need to be careful about where you go if you come here. Of course, you often don't have a lot of choice anyway. :)

Exceptin' I'm allergic to cats.

It needs a dog, morelike. I wish we could have one. I don't actually know if we're allowed to have pets or not. I'm sure our landlord wouldn't care. But it's the expense of getting them back to the States.

I just don't relish having to clean the front door when the time comes. :P I hate window cleaning.

Looks big! And it looks like a great house. :) Thanks for showing us pictures. I love seeing other people's homes.

It is a big house. And so far, we really love living in it. Just a few minor problems, but what house is perfect?

Wow, that is one gorgeous home. :) It looks very roomy and exquisite yet simple (and simple, from me, is a huge compliment. I'm such a packrat/clutterbug that most of my living spaces look really busy and crammed). I love it! Thanks for sharing the photos!

Well, I'm the minimalist one of the both of us. Lance is a packrat. So I guess it's a good thing we have a big house.

The office and guest room I didn't photograph because they are actually pretty cluttered at the moment. Hehehe. But once you see the basement, you'll see that we don't have to have that problem anywhere else in the house.

The basement is GINORMOUS. And tons of storage. One room is nothing but wall to wall closets.

Now see, this is the kind of house I would've picked for us to live in in the first place. ;)

But better late than never. I want to move this house to the States so I can always live here.

Thanks for taking the time to show us your new house! It looks awesome -- very sunny and full of spaces to put things! It looks/sounds like you're really enjoying it! I hope you can find a place you'll love as much back in the States!

I love your kitchen!
Mine is so tiny *sniff*

Oh well, you really got a gorgeous house now, so screw the old one ;)

I like the fact that there is so much natural light in the house. I have SAD and it's particularly bad in the winter and early spring, so at least with some more light in the house, I should feel a bit better.

I've had to deal with tiny kitchens before. Not fun, especially if you love to cook. If you don't cook, than I guess it's nothing to really consider.

You'll have a nice big kitchen someday. :)

I hope so ;)

And I deserve one since mine is more of a small crook in my living room, a walk in hallway kitchen in tiny ;)

I have the same/similar little table that you have in the photo where you're going to drape fabric. It is in a picture with my mom and her sister at my aunt's birthday party in the '50's. There is a cake on it in the photo. It now lives in my second floor hallway.

Nice house.

A very nice house. I also noticed many uses of "I, me, mine, my" as opposed to our or ours. What was that green thing on your bed? I know that it wasn't Lance. You can take Buck back with you when you come home. Let us talk to your husband sometime, I want to be sure that he is still alive and still lives there. Just remember that most everything you buy will have to be shipped home. Can you say damaged?

That green thing on the bed is a stuffed frog. :P

And I assure you that Lance is alive and well. He's sitting in HIS office next to me right now (I say his office because it's mostly his stuff and he decorated it, like the kitchen is mine because it's mostly my stuff).

And I know we have to ship our stuff back. But if it breaks, the Air Force has to pay for it, at least.

As always Rob, thanks for your refreshing sarcasm. ;)
