Wow. It's December already. Where did the year go? Before too long, it will be next December, and we'll be on our way out of here.

It has been an interesting morning so far. The kitchen lights went out. Lance replaced the bulbs and they still don't work, so it looks like the light fixture itself is the problem. I just hope Lance can mess with it and fix it himself and we won't have to call the landlord for the second time this week.

This happened about this time last year as well, only that time, it was the bulbs. But I needed to put a spare lamp in the kitchen and use that for light until Lance could get out and find the proper bulbs.

I also forgot it was trash day and Lance put the trash out half an hour later than usual. And the trash truck generally comes shortly after 6, which is when we get up. I hope we're not too late. He said nobody else had their trash out when he put ours out, but I double checked the trash calendar, and it IS today.

Also, I was just called into work this morning, but I told them that I have an appointment. The appointment is that I'm having lunch with my girlfriends today, but I don't have to tell them that. None of their business.

Now...for some funny stuff.

Mom has been regaling me with stories about the new cat and dog dynamic in the household. Before my brother and Cristine moved to Guam, they brought up their tuxedo cat, Chica, to come and stay with Mom for 3 months or so while Mom gets all of Chica's shots and paperwork done for her to go join them in Guam.

Well, just as I suspected, Buck is now Chica's bitch. At first, she wanted nothing to do with him, and he kept trying to play with her. But now, she sneaks up on him all the time and pounces on him, scaring him away, and then she chases him around the house.

Poor Bucky Poo. Hehe.

Well, last night, Chica found a new plaything...a BAT!

Pasted from Mom's email:

greetings all.....Heard tell of stories about folks getting bats in
their house, but never thought it would happen to us. Well.....I thought
WRONG!!!! Was down here in the family room this evening, just got off the phone
with Sue....when Buck comes racing down the stairs,a bird-like thing behind
him and Chica chasing the bird-like thing. When it went by again, I saw
that it wasn't a bird-like thing, but a BAT...yes...a BAT! About the size of a
good size starling!!!! EEEEKS!! Rob was upstairs and heard me yelling and
came to the main floor just in time to have the bat whiz by his head! It flew
around for a bit then went upstairs with Chica chasing it the whole time (I
couldn't stop her). I think Buck was cringing in fear somewhere. The
bat flew upstairs and into our bedroom at which point I closed the door on
it and the cat. Rob and I neither one knew what to do, never having been
faced with this dilema before. After mulling it over for a bit, Rob got a
trash bag and I told him I didn't want it killed, then I grabbed the bag from
him and said I didn't want him to get bit, went into the bedroom, didn't
see the bat or the cat. No cat under the bed or in Rob's bathroom. Checked the
closet and saw Chica's feet. Turned on the light and saw the bat on the
floor behind the door. Picked up the cat and got her out of the room.
Rob got me some towels to throw over it so it wouldn't fly. Scooped it up
and put in the bag, took outside and released it. So Chica was really the
heroine of the day, to bring a bat down without killing it is a pretty
good feat. She got a special treat. :) Just can't figure out how the stupid
thing got in here. It's really bugging me. Anyway, had to tell you all about
our big adventure. Not every day you get a bat in the house (thank God for
little favors). Can anybody top that story? Love ya's-take
care.....Love...Mom :)

Is it wrong that Lance and I laughed our asses off at this?

ETA: I'm currently talking to my SIL on Yahoo and she was laughing her ass off too when she read it.

Anyway, Mom is no longer at that job she hated. She is taking a 3 day weekend, and starts her new job on Monday.

Trash truck just came...about an hour and 15 minutes later than usual. Hmmmm.
