On Friday, Gaby invited me to drive out today and meet her new horse, Pretty Morning. Gaby is still breaking her in, and comes out almost everyday to work with her. She told me to meet her at 1:00 and gave me directions out to the farm where Pretty Morning is kept. She still lives with most of her family...I met her handsome Papa and saw her Mama and sister.

Gaby invited me to walk with her around the circle. She was really easygoing, especially after I fed her a carrot.

Anyway...pictures are below. She has gorgeous blue eyes, but of course, those didn't come out in the photos.

I got a bit of a surprise this afternoon. Since the farm was on the way to base anyway, I went to base afterwards to run errands. I had to fax some paperwork to Princess Cruises and mail off a card. So I stopped in the Airman & Family Readiness Center, and one of the ladies came up to me and said, "You're Karyn Johnson, aren't you?"

"Yeah."

"Well, thanks so much for contributing articles to our newsletter. We've gotten so many phone calls from people thanking us for bringing back the travel section and telling us how helpful the articles are."

It is because of me that they brought back the travel section. They rely on contributions from the GK community, and nobody has contributed. They asked me for a few articles and I gave them some stuff that I already had. They printed my articles in last month's newsletter and this month's, and now they have contributions coming in from others. But they still want me to contribute more. I suppose I could do some quick write-ups.

They wanted to know if I could possibly compile my travel information into a book. I told them that I already have a blog, so I'm going to just put the URL for that at the end of the next article I contribute. If people want to read it and get ideas, than they can. That's what it's there for.

That was a nice feeling.

I made the mistake of taking the back gate road on the way home. Bad bad BAD idea. The foreign components that have been visiting for the anniversary haven't gone home yet, so all their planes were still out on the runway (or flying around), and the road was packed with cars and people with binoculars and cameras. There was only enough room left on the road for one car to fit, so when oncoming traffic came, it made things quite a bit dicey.

I got to see two fighter jets take off on my way out though, so that was kind of cool. You don't really see that kind of thing very often around here.
