My schedule when I'm in Ohio is getting filled with fun and good things.

Next Saturday night - Picnic with the Pops. I have been wanting to do this for years, and my mom and Rob have talked about it for ages too. We've just never done it. So now we have tickets and we're going. And it's Patriotic Pops too...lots of John Philip Sousa marches and fireworks.

Next Sunday - family reunion. Always a good time when I hang out with my cousins and play with their kids. Oh...and of course eat lots of bad-for-me food.

Thursday, July 5 - Paula drives down from Parma to come and visit me. :) I'm not sure yet what we'll do when she gets there. If she doesn't mind too much, I may have her drive me to German Village, and we can hang out there and browse the shops and eat at Max & Erma's or something. (Yes, I totally get the irony of going home to visit German Village. Shut up. :P)
ETA: Apparently, she is really itching to visit the Columbus Zoo. So it looks like that's what we'll be doing.

Friday, July 6 - This is only tentative right now...but I might be getting together with a couple of my English Culture readers from BellaOnline. We discussed getting together to see The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [abridged] at Schiller Park (obviously, we discussed this before I resigned as English Culture editor...and they have yet to replace me, I might add). Trying to organize that right now. ( ETA: So far, one person has confirmed, so it looks like I'm going!)

Saturday, July 7 - Going to Kelleys Island with Mom and Rob. They just told me this on the phone today and I'm really excited. I haven't been there in ages. As Lake Erie islands go, I like Put-in-Bay better, but I'll take any opportunity to go up to the lake. I love it up there. I suppose we'll be touring wineries and doing tastings. And apparently, they are having a historic home tour that day too.

This is so much better than my usual trips home, when I do absolutely nothing. And that's okay too...sometimes. But I like my vacations to be pretty active. I'm not really a do nothing kind of person.

Shadowbox is doing Rocky Horror on Sundays until July 15th. It's supposed to be a really fun show. Matt and I are going tomorrow, should I let ya know how it was?

I'm actually not a fan of Rocky Horror. My first experience with it was horrible, and I've never liked it. But I would be interested in knowing how Shadowbox's version differs. I see their doing their annual "Best of Shadowbox" right now. That was the first performance of theirs that I've ever seen.

Gabe isn't with them anymore, is he? Oh wait, the website says he's "on hiatus." Too bad. He was the most fun to watch.

GAH! I'm an idiot. It took me all day to realize that I made a grammatical mistake on the above comment.

This is why I should not comment when I just wake up.

Bad English major!

Gabe moved to California to pursue an acting career. He came and said hi and gave me a hug on my birthday, how sweet.

Yeah, I saw his webpage. Good luck to him. Columbus's loss is California's gain. I think he is truly talented, so hopefully he'll go far.

That was sweet of him to give you a hug on your birthday.

I told him, on my birthday, that I'd see him in a movie and say, "I met that guy 3 times!" He said, "Yeah it was more than 3." Fun times.

Heh. Well, I never even got to meet him. I just got to sit in front of him when he was onstage with the band at a Shadowbox show. And he kept looking at me when I was laughing my ass off because he was playing a Chili Peppers song in his underwear. (Seriously...I was crying with laughter. And I was in awe at his fearlessness in appearing onstage in tighty-whities.)

It was a very...uhm...stimulating performance.

Do you remember how he stood at the door on your way out? We just used to stop and talk to him, because I had a HUGE crush.

He stuffed those undies.

Actually, you just reminded me...I have met him before. At my first Shadowbox performance, he greeted me at the door as I came in and we chatted for a few minutes. I told him that I caught a Shadowbox performance down in Cincinnati right at the time that the Newport Shadowbox was getting ready to open, and he said that he was down there to help them promote the show. And I distinctly remembered seeing him there. He's hard not to notice.

I had quite a crush on him too. I was mad because when I went to a Shadowbox show for my bachelorette party, he wasn't there. That's because he had just gotten married or was about to get married or something, if I remember right.
