All Hail my Successor!
Jul. 24th, 2007 09:00 pmIt appears that BellaOnline has a new English Culture editor.
She is still in training, so the only thing I know about her is her name.
My articles will be slowly disappearing off the site now. There is a large archive of them, so it will take her awhile to overwrite them all.
I'll be interested in seeing how she redecorates the place.

Had lunch today with Andrea and Christine at Paganini. Once again, struck out on ordering pizza. It was too windy for them to use their brick oven. I had the tagliatelle with salmon cream sauce instead. Tasty.
We were there for 2.5 hours. I guess we had a lot of catching up to do.
On the way home, I stopped at a shoe store to look for some comfortable shoes to wear when we travel. Struck out there too. I didn't like most of the styles they carried, and the one pair I really did like was 99 euros. Ouch. I would rather have sore feet than a sore checking account.
I told Lance that I'm going to change the title of this Live Journal to "Sooner or Later: Tales of an Oklahoma-Bound Ohioan".
He groaned. Yes, it's a horrible pun (I'll explain for those who may not know...Oklahoma is nicknamed "The Sooner State"). I'll keep the current title for now. I'm still living abroad for a few months yet.
It's been a week now, and I haven't heard anything about the query I sent. How much longer should I wait? If Geotimes doesn't want it, I'm pitching the story to another magazine.
ETA: Spoke too soon. Got an email. They love it. They want it. But they won't pay for it. However, it is a national magazine.
Actually...it's the website for the national magazine. I don't think it will actually make it into the print edition. The "Travels in Geology" section is a web exclusive thing.
Now...next question. Should I do it? Have I paid my dues enough? Writing these articles are extremely time-consuming and always very stressful.
Mom thinks I should do it. And Lance.
Anyway, I guess I better scamper off and read. It's taking me ages to get through Merle's Door, even though it's fascinating. I'm at the point where one of the dogs in the memoir is about to die, so I'm trying to avoid reading it. It just makes me think of Taffy and I get sad again. Christine brought me a copy of I, Mona Lisa which was my book club selection for October, so I can always read that. I feel it's too early to read it, but someone else is expecting it after me, so I have to start it early.
