I'm checking in from Edelweiss Lodge and Resort. I got your messages about my Grandma over the past few days. Thanks so much, all of you. Your thoughts mean a lot to me right now, especially since I feel so far away from everything. And it hasn't even hit me yet. I just read her obituary...I know the funeral was this morning. But it still hasn't hit me, and it probably won't until the next time I go home.

Anyway, our trip to Bavaria has been cold and rainy so far. We paid a lot of money to go up on the Zugspitze yesterday, and there was zero visibility up there, and it was very cold with sleet and snow. It rained all day in Garmisch, and we got soaked going to Partnach Gorge.

Not one of our finer moments.

Today was the tour to Berchtesgaden, and it was the same situation...snow up at the Eagle's Nest. Freezing. No visibility, so my hopes to see Salzburg from there were dashed. But the town of Berchtesgaden was very nice, and we had a very tasty lunch at the Golden Bear. I had meatloaf with mushroom gravy and spaetzle. Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The drive to and from was very nice too, although I slept part of the way. We drove through part of Austria, but you wouldn't have known if you weren't paying attention. This whole area is just incredibly beautiful.

Anyway, I need to go downstairs and get a chicken wrap for dinner or something...still not very hungry after my huge Bavarian lunch. Lance and Kim are probably hanging out upstairs watching television. We got a 24 hour internet card. My main reason for getting online was to see Grandma's obituary, so I thought I would pop on here and say hi to you all.

I'm sorry about your grandmother, but I never know what to say. Mine (my last grandparent) died this year but it was expected - she just slowly shut down. Very different to your situation.

I appreciate your sentiments...I know that it's hard to always know what to say. But the fact that you left a comment is enough. Thank you.
