Neuschwanstein
Sep. 20th, 2007 09:20 pmWent to Neuschwanstein today. Just lovely.
Some things, however, were not so lovely.
I sat by myself on the bus. Then some woman sat next to me with her 1 year old son who screamed and screamed almost the entire time. And when he wasn't screaming, he was tugging at my sweater or staring at me or kicking me.
The mother asked me if I minded. What difference does it make, really?
Thankfully, the drive was short, although all the pretty stuff to see along the way was on the opposite side of the bus. We drove through Fuessen, a town I've been wanting to see for a long time, and I couldn't photograph any of it.
Anyway, the castle visit was good. Weather was fabulous. Not warm, really, but at least clear and sunny and comfortable.
We didn't eat with the group. We grabbed snacks at a fast food stand. We did some shopping.
We also stopped at Wieskirche on the way back, which is a pretty famous church with an interesting story behind it.
We also stopped at a wood carving shop on the way home. And we drove through the towns of Oberammergau and Ettal.
Lance and I got gifts for our soon-to-be hatched niece.
We got back kind of early this evening, so we went to Renzo's Italian Restaurant for dinner, followed by a couple drinks at Irish Pub.
Tomorrow: Innsbruck.
