Oktoberfest

prosodicYeah...Oktoberfest...highly overrated.
We took a shuttle from the hotel. I sat alone, as per usual. So some stranger sat next to me, and immediately started talking my ear off. We passed the time this way for the entire drive to Munich.
The shuttle dropped us off at the Oktoberfest grounds, which isn't really near any of the touristy stuff in Munich, so no sense in me trying to do any sightseeing. We got there in time for the parade (this is opening weekend), but we stood for an hour before the parade even started. Once it did, it lasted 2 hours. My feet were completely numb from standing so long and I had a horrible sunburn.
We got food and I picked up a huge bottle of lemonade since I don't drink beer. We went into one of the beer tents and couldn't find a place to sit. So we tried to find seating outside. No luck. So we were going to go back in, and security stopped me and said I couldn't bring in my drink. So I told Lance and Kim to go in and have a beer and I would wander around on my own and meet up with them at the bus at the departure time.
Not much to do. Rides are expensive. I got a few souvenirs.
Met up with them again at the bus...they were there before me. They never could find a place to sit, so they hadn't had any beer.
The guy who sat next to me arrived very drunk, and he ran to the lavatory to puke and came back with a plastic bag. Lance thought this was hilarious, but I was actually really really angry.
He fell asleep and kept slumping over on me. Finally, a nice teenage girl sitting directly behind me offered the empty seat next to her, so I crawled over Mr. Pukey and sat with her for the rest of the trip and talked to her family and the drunk (but not puking guys) who were sitting behind me. At least it was fairly tolerable.
Anyway, we leave early for Venice tomorrow. I should get upstairs and shower. I was out in the hot sun all day and feel greasy and gross.
