Today's Agenda
Oct. 8th, 2007 11:08 am- work out
- take shower
- bake two loaves of peanut butter pumpkin bread (I know, odd...but I am intrigued by the recipe...besides, I bake when I'm stressed)
- job searching/house hunting (one of our potentials was pulled from the market yesterday...and Lance wants me to check into a federal writer/editor job that is way way above my level of experience and education)
- Read more of Mrs. Shakespeare: The Complete Works, which is one of the most bizarre books I have ever read, but I can't stop reading it. It's going quickly though. It's written like a poem, so I breezed right through about 100 pages last night in less than an hour. Nearly half done.
- lose my mind
I'm just feeling a bit down today: family drama, insecurities and uncertainties, a house in various stages of disarray, the chill in the air (both inside and out...we don't have the heat on yet because Lance is trying to conserve the last of our heating oil), my itchy skin (the itching is HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!), and bad things happening to good people that I know.
So...I guess I'm now going to create a resume on USAJobs, although I can't seem to find this particular job that I stumbled on the other day. It's a GS-12, and I am perhaps a GS-6 at best, given that I have no previous federal job experience (other than substitute teaching) and don't actually have a masters degree (despite finishing all the coursework). I feel strongly that I shouldn't bother applying for this job because I AM NOT QUALIFIED (and this isn't one of those situations where I can gloss over my lack of qualifications) but Lance still thinks I should do it, and let them tell me that I'm not. It's a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned.
ETA: I am applying for a job at the passport office, but I can't do the online application until I make sense of one of my paychecks and figure out what pay grade, etc. I am as a substitute teacher. I also figured out that I should be able to qualify as a GS-7, but no higher than that.

Date: 2007-10-11 06:54 am (UTC)When I added information to my online resume about my substitute teaching job, I couldn't put GS-05...I had to put in what was on my pay stub. It said TP AA 00. Lance deciphered it for me and told me which one was pay grade, status, etc. My online resume is done. I'm applying for the passport agent job, even though I think it would be boring as hell. At least it's a starting point. And for that job, I should qualify for the top pay grade...GS-7. However, I am mostly applying for private sector jobs that are more along the lines of what I actually want to do.
