Last Washington Post (for awhile)
Oct. 28th, 2007 03:55 pmWe leave early tomorrow morning, but this weekend has been fairly relaxing, since we haven't had any real estate-related things to do (although we'll be meeting with our agent here soon to return his cellphone. First, we have to stop at See's Candies to get a little token of our appreciation for his hard work).
Yesterday we went to Mt. Rainier National Park. Absolutely freaking incredible. We didn't stay long, as neither of us were appropriately dressed for hiking or other outdoor activities. We weren't expecting to have a lot of free time, after all. The drive was very pretty. We went through the tiny town of Elbe, which has a church listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a bunch of old cabooses from trains that were painted bright colors and turned into a hotel called Hobo Inn. Very very cool. We also passed a petrified forest, although we didn't stop for pictures of that.
Pictures will be forthcoming on
itinerantwriter, but give me a few days.
Today we went to a couple of spots along Puget Sound - Dash Point State Park and Des Moines Marina...both also very nice places.
Pictures of those are also forthcoming.
Lance bought a TomTom GPS a couple days ago...we've been using that to get around everywhere, and aside from not having McChord as a point of interest in its system, it's done pretty well for us. Lance loves it. It will be very nice in keeping me from getting lost once we move here, although I am actually getting quite familiar with the surroundings.
Anyway, I'll be checking back in from Germany on Tuesday. I'm reluctant to leave here, but we still have a life back in Europe and loose ends to tie up.

Date: 2007-10-30 06:15 pm (UTC)We get 10 days permissive TDY for househunting, which we can take the immediate 10 days prior to our PCS date or at a time not long before. So that's why we were in Washington.
