Somehow, it managed to escape my notice that the Pacific Northwest was hit with a pretty awful storm over the past few days. The radio said something about hurricane force winds and power outages, as well as extreme cold.

I just hope the house hasn't been affected. It's not officially OURS until December 14, but if there is any storm damage, I hope the current owners will take care of that before we move in. I believe they are obligated to do so. It's already been inspected, so I don't know if anyone is going to climb up on the roof during the final walk-through or not.

I guess I need to mention this to Lance when I talk to him this evening, as well as mention to him that I found one of his flight suit patches in the driveway this morning. Although I'm sure he realizes by now that it's missing. It is the American flag patch. Ugh. Not that it's good for any of his patches to be missing, but probably that one especially.

In other news, my niece is now home from the hospital. She was kept a little longer for jaundice. And I have my first photos of her at home. She apparently really hates bath time. Hehe. But I have a photo of her smiling, which is really cute (even if it is probably gas).

I won't bombard my FL with photos...many of my friends are childfree like me, and couldn't care less...and that is completely cool and understandable. After all, I generally don't go all gaga over babies that have nothing to do with my friends or family...I'm not the type that really melts over children in general (and of course, some people judge me and consider me a cold-hearted bitch because of that, and I can't change their way of thinking...but just put a puppy in front of me and I fall all to pieces). I mean, yeah...there are exceptions. If a child tries to engage me in some way, I usually respond (playing peek-a-boo with me in a restaurant, etc.)...I'm a child magnet, actually, and I've been told that this is because I don't speak down to children in cutesy-wutsey widdle voices. But I generally don't seek out the company of children.

I'm off on a tangent...anyway...

I may do an Eva filter for those who are really into baby photos. Still thinking about that.

Anyway, my posts have been bereft of any interesting content lately, so perhaps I should close this off and go take a shower and figure out how to spend my day. Spinning class is done, at least...the class was almost full and there were a few people struggling...when I see that, I try to give some encouragement if I can make eye contact with them. I know how sore they're going to be the next day and how much they're going to want to quit before they barely started. That was me, over two years ago, when I started. But the trick is not to give up, and things get easier.

I wish that were true of all things in life.

Well, I'll tell you this much- I haven't noticed any hurricane force winds at my place. Nothing out of the ordinary. The weather guy's blog from King5 news even said "we've had worse November days"

I'm guessing your house is fine.

Ah...gotta love how the media blows things out of proportion. I have quite a few Pacific NW friends on my FL, and not one of them mentioned unusual weather. And unless it's on the Yahoo homepage, I generally don't know about it unless I read about it on Live Journal.

Sad that this is one of my primary news sources, eh? ;)

If'n you have an Eva filter, I'd like to be on it. No kidalinks for me, but I do like the creatures quite a bit.

Sure. I've been sent a lot of pictures today, so I might just have to start one. :) And I know you are great with kids. I feel really awkward around them mostly, even though they seem to like me quite a bit. Guess I just lack a parenting gene or something.

I've always felt awkward around kids, but now that I have my own, I understand them (at least up to his current age) much better. Ones older than him still baffle me, but I'm assuming as my kid gets there, I'll understand how to relate to them much better as well.

My cousins love it when I'm at family gatherings, because they end up putting me in charge of their kids for a few hours while they go off and do adult things for awhile. I don't mind it, and I seem to be able to handle kids in my family much better than the kids of people I don't know or know well. It's weird.

It wasn't all bad, winds mostly 35-55 mph. Only 85,000 people lost power in all of Seattle metro area. I worked through it with no problems, last December 14th was really bad. This was really pretty mild and the coast actually got the worst and inland only the tail end. You house is probably fine.

As far as the exteme cold, yesterdays temperature was around 58 degrees. Today was sunny with blue skies.

It's nicer there than it is here!

Okay...the radio made it sounds all gloom and doom, and I was skeptical because I figured if it was bad enough, somebody on my FL would've mentioned it. So I won't worry about the house. We'll just check for missing roof shingles on the final walk-through, but I'm sure it'll be okay.
