Home Again
Nov. 17th, 2007 07:54 amLance came home. He came home with Cadbury's Dairy Milk, the Nigella Lawson cookbook and a cold.
Yes...I am going to be sick next week! All my friends have colds and now Lance has one. Hooray!
Anyway, I warmed up his plate of food once he got in and changed out of his uniform. He wasn't a fan of tourtiere, much to my surprise. It's meat in a pie crust. What man in his right mind would not like that (unless they're vegetarian, which he isn't)? But he didn't care much for it. And we still have 6 pieces in the fridge. Guess I'll be tossing most of it out.
After he ate, he got caught up on email while I looked over all the food porny-ness of Nigella's book. Oh. My. This book is amazing. I am going to make my own sunblush tomatoes (which, from what I can tell, are similar to sundried tomatoes, but they are between fresh and dried) packed in oil...it is probably cheaper than buying the jars at the store. She even has a macaroni and cheese recipe! I'll have to try it sometime, although we really like the two reduced fat recipes I normally use, and nothing about her recipe is in any way reduced in fat. Her recipe for hummus looks freaking amazing. There are so many recipes I want to try.
So...that was how we spent our evening. Lance briefly talked to our real estate agent, and he said that he had been by our house this week and that it looked fine...no sign of damage from last weekend's severe weather. So that's cool that he checked up on things without us even having to ask.
I didn't sleep quite as much as I wanted to last night. Because Lance is congested, he's breathing much more loudly, so it kept me from sleeping. But I have nowhere else to go to get any sleep. This stupid sofa that we currently have in the living room is the most uncomfortable piece of furniture ever, and the bottom cushions keep sliding off all the time.
Grocery shopping for us today...we were supposed to pick up our rental car today too, but since the crap-mobile seems to be beyond redemption, we might as well just drive it until a few days before we leave. Then we have to go to the junkyard and have them take it and then go to the base to cancel our registration. That's really our only option now.
