I can't complain too much, because it's partly sunny and about 55 degrees right now. However, I woke up this morning feeling very groggy, and wasn't really able to go back to sleep. Oh, I tried...but our neighbor's dog (a Shetland Sheepdog, I believe), who is usually quiet, decided to be quite barky this morning. I think I got maybe 20 minutes at the most once I tried to go back to bed. At least I feel a bit more awake now.

I tried to take a bath, but our bathtub isn't a good soaking tub. I miss my bathtub in Germany. Not to mention, the water doesn't get very hot either, so my bath was lukewarm and it ended quickly. Guess I'll have to learn to prefer showers to baths.

Lunch was made of fail as well. I dreamed of having a decadent, simple lunch of soft boiled eggs squidged (I love this word - Nigella Lawson uses it a lot) on toast, but the eggs were cooked to medium instead of soft. I've never made soft boiled eggs before and I followed the instructions in my cookbook, so I think it's just that I maybe had the stove turned on too high. Will cook at a lower temperature from now on, or for maybe a minute less.

But still, the eggs were good. I mashed them up on my toast with a fork and sprinkled with salt and pepper, and they were perfectly edible, but not what I wanted.

I've been watching entirely too much Food Network. Tyler Florence made moules et frites (mussels and fries), so it made me think of Brussels. He was trying to replicate a Parisian bistro meal, but that meal makes me think of Belgium. And I thought about how delicious European frites are with mayonnaise, and I got just a tiny bit homesick for Germany and all the fabulous restaurant food. I haven't had a really amazing meal since we've been here...all our meals out have been mostly to fast food places. We just have a lack of time and money.

I'm really dying to try the Italian/Greek restaurant in downtown Kent. Their menu looks amazing. If I get a job offer next week, I may have to convince Lance to take me there for a celebratory dinner.

Speaking of jobs...I got a phone call from the airline I am interviewing with next week...they just wanted to reconfirm my interview and remind me to bring the paperwork they requested. This is the first time I've actually spoken to someone on the phone...they've only corresponded with me via email until now.

Lance and I are going to go pick up my car tonight. I confirmed that it's there and they are going to clean it and detail it and make it all shiny and pretty for me. So our dealer wants us to call him as soon as we hit the road. We made room in the garage for it last night, although having a garage door opener is a moot point, because the garage door is always locked and cannot open with the opener unless it is unlocked. So I have to park the car in the driveway, go into the house, open the garage door from inside the house, and then park the car. That's worse than Germany, where we manually opened and closed the garage door, and I ended up parking out in the driveway most of the time because it was so annoying. We may end up having to get a new automatic garage door installed.

I really should start making a list of things we need to fix/change.

Lance picked out a new screen door last night from the catalog we picked up at HD. (I am abbreviating it from now on...I don't want some of you to become raging alcoholics, since I have now inspired a drinking game...hehehe). I was overwhelmed by the choices...I never knew there were so many for a screen door, for crying out loud. Lance picked out something that is actually very elegant looking. I'm proud of him. It's much nicer than our current door. I suppose we'll go and order it tomorrow.

Have your hot water heater checked.

I made do with a less than stellar water temperature for far too long at my old place. The inspector noticed something was off at escrow. He made an adjustment. The last shower or two was just beautiful. If only I had thought of this years prior...

It already takes about 2 minutes for us to get ANY hot water from our master bath shower. It takes that long for the hot water to travel from the water heater to our shower. It's faster in the guest bath (where the bathtub is located), but it also seems that the water in that room doesn't get as hot as it does in the kitchen or the master bath. It's quite odd.

I jacked up the temp in my hot water heater when I lived in my last apartment. I don't remember what it was set at - but it was lower than I wanted it to be. It didn't increase my supply of hot water mind you, but when the water was much hotter, mixed with cold, it made for a delightful bath!

For cheap fun things check out the different festivals they have around the space needle. It seemed like they had one a week almost - Italian days, Indian Days, Japan days - always seemed to be a different culture highlighted. Yummy food. :)
