Feb. 5th, 2008 04:01 amSome bizarre, unsettling noise from outside woke me up before 4 this morning. Twenty minutes earlier than I meant to be up.
I have no idea what it was, and absolutely no way to even describe it.
So anyway, I'm up now. Looking forward to another day of the same crap as usual.
I'm wondering if I'll be released from this temp assignment today or tomorrow, now that the work has decreased significantly. They're behind in the item processing department, and they're pulling several people from other departments to have them work there and get caught up. And once that happens, I have a feeling I'll be released.
I'll actually be relieved. I can have my life back. Eight hours a day is fine for work, as long as I have the energy afterwards to work out and do what I normally do. But at this temp assignment, I'm usually putting in more than 8 hours, and too exhausted to do anything but collapse once I get home. I cooked some simple chicken breasts on the skillet last night, with mashed potatoes and peas for sides, and that effort exhausted me, even though it was hardly an effort at all.
I noticed last night that, although I haven't really gained any weight since we've been here (a pound or two, which I keep losing and then gaining back), I'm certainly losing all that lovely muscle tone that I had in Germany. I hate not having access to a gym. I try to work out here at home when I can, but it's just not the same as spinning. Although I took a good uphill walk the other day, so there's potential there, as long as the weather is nice.
Lance is lucky. He has a free Bally's membership courtesy of work, but hasn't once gone yet. He plans to start this week. He started a diet yesterday and he texted me at some point to tell me that someone brought cheesecake in the office. He managed to avoid temptation, however. That's a good start, I think.
