Who Needs Rice-a-Roni?
Feb. 21st, 2008 06:29 pmTonight was "make your own" night, which I have on occasion if I don't feel like making anything for dinner or if I want to give Lance the chance to fix something that he likes for himself.
So I threw a Gorton's salmon fillet in the toaster oven to bake for myself. I nuked some mixed veggies and I decided to make some Minute Rice.
But of course, Minute Rice is rather bland by itself.
I had about 1/4 cup of chicken broth left over from 2 other meals in the past week. I added enough water to make it half a cup. I added half a teaspoon of lemon herb seasoning and about 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. When that came to a boil, I added the half cup of rice. I let that sit for 5 minutes. When it was done, I mixed in about 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese.
Yum. Oh my God. It was just SOOOOOOOO good. And it didn't even seem like Minute Rice anymore. So I'll do that again, only next time, I'll use a little less lemon herb seasoning. It was almost overpowering. But the rice was still very very tasty.
