In anticipation of Lance's departure in a couple weeks (not that I'm anticipating it, mind you, but I am preparing for it), I am starting to collect some more movies to keep me occupied during his absence. When we were in Germany, I would often have long movie marathons when he was gone...generally I would make myself a very nice gourmet dinner, light some candles, and then spend a good 4-6 hours watching the movies I love.

I suppose I'll be going to the library to check out movies and probably around the corner to Hollywood Video as well, but Lance was nice enough to let me use his half of the amazon gift certificate we got from my brother for Christmas. Generally, I spend half and he spends half, but he insisted that I take his half.

So now I have Possession coming to me. It's not nearly as wonderful as the novel, but it's a good movie in its own right. I would've ordered another DVD, but Loreena McKennitt's An Ancient Muse was calling to me. Lance can't stand her wailing, as he calls it, so I listen to her a lot when he is gone. I find her music so calming and soothing.

I almost got Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but I am convinced I can find it less expensive somewhere else...I'll check Target first.

I already have a lot of reading material, so between that and the movies, I should have plenty to keep myself distracted. Hopefully I'll be working and that will take up the major chunk of my time.

We don't know for sure if he'll be gone the full 2 months, so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that he'll finish his training early. And since spring will be in full bloom by the time he gets back, I guess I need to acquire a green thumb. The front and back gardens need to be weeded. And I'll have the mow the lawn...something I really have no experience doing. But it doesn't matter...our front and backyards are very small, so it won't take long.

The second coat of paint will go on today...we'll start after lunch. The room is looking fabulous though, and I'm so excited. The paint color looks wonderful with the fireplace. Lance still doesn't like it, but I hope he can at least get used to it. The color is somewhere between a sage and a drab green, so he thinks it's too similar to the color of his military uniform.

I have some spaghetti sauce simmering away in the slow cooker. It's a new recipe I'm trying with mild Italian sausage links diced up into the sauce. I didn't have any basil, but I do have Italian seasoning (it's my favorite seasoning...I put it on everything), so I replaced the basil and the oregano in the recipe with Italian seasoning, since it has both basil and oregano in it anyway (as well as other herbs). It makes A LOT of sauce, so I'll have some to freeze. I'm trying to stockpile some leftovers in the freezer so I have meals for myself while Lance is gone. I really don't like making a fuss over just myself...so I generally keep it simple when he's gone. I also tend to go meatless a lot too. But I have some beef stew in the freezer right now, some pepperoni pizza chili, and now I'll have some of this, so I have a few things I can thaw and quickly reheat so I don't have to make a big deal about dinner while he's gone.
