Wing Commander Dinner
Mar. 21st, 2008 10:19 pmI got a last-minute invitation to a military-related function tonight. Lance, of course, was invited, but couldn't go for obvious reasons. Families were invited too, but he didn't think I would be interested in going without him, so he didn't say anything to me about it. I knew of it, but I just didn't know any details.
But Ruby filled me in and invited me to tag along, so I went with her and her family.
It was fun. We went to this wonderful scenic restaurant on the Des Moines marina. It was actually two restaurants in one: we ate at the Oyster Bar and Grill on the ground floor, but the fancier and more expensive Anthony's Home Port was on the top floor.
I split a bottle of Washington State (Columbia Valley) Riesling with Ruby and one other person. It was fantastic. I ordered Mahi Mahi tacos with tortilla chips and fresh homemade salsa on the side. Delicious.
I was texting Lance while we were there, including him in our dinner conversation by relaying messages from his co-workers. I sat next to one of his good work friends, and we were having fun teasing Lance via text message. Hehe. Good times.
All in all, a good night. I loved the view at this place...so pretty!! I just wish the sunset had been more spectacular. Sadly, it was underwhelming. But the moon tonight is just so pretty.
