Getting the hell out of Dodge
Apr. 23rd, 2008 06:52 amLance is done done DONE with all the crap he had to do down in Oklahoma. At the first opportunity, he is grabbing something smoking back to Seattle. He's going to a travel agency soon to try and arrange it, and hopefully they can get him on a flight today. At the latest, it will be tomorrow.
He can't wait to leave. It's been miserably hot this week, particularly in his room, where the air conditioner actually blew out heat, and it got up to 86 degrees a couple days ago...only 2 degrees cooler than the outside temperature.
So here's hoping I see him tonight. We're both sick of this deployment, and seeing as how I am going on my own "deployment" on Sunday, I would like as much time with him as I can get before I leave.
Also, I finally convinced him to go to a Bunco game. We are going to the one on the Friday after I get back from Rochester. There's a Caribbean theme. I want to make Pina Colada bars to take, but it requires rum extract, which I would NEVER use again, so I don't really want to buy it.
Any suggestions as to a Caribbean-inspired potluck dish? Not a main dish like Jerk Chicken or anything, but an appetizer or dessert or something?
