I just took the second batch of Banana Crumb muffins out of the oven.

[livejournal.com profile] navygreen...these had better be good. My job is at stake. ;) Hehe. Well, my supervisor is really looking forward to them anyway.

So Lance and I left about 10-15 minutes before I usually leave so we could get to the airport for his flight to Oklahoma. He was already going to be sitting in the airport several hours before his flight. Once I dropped him off and drove the short way to work, there was a text message letting me know that his flight was delayed for 2 hours. So instead of an 11:30 departure, he left at 1:30.

He's enroute to OKC now...probably should be there right about now, actually.

From what I gathered, he killed time at Seatac this morning by texting me (and he forgot to bring the charger for his phone, so he shouldn't get too carried away with that), buying magazines at the bookstore, and getting food at Starbucks.

Anyway...I got home from work and pulled into the garage and thought I heard the phone ringing, but I ran out to the mailbox to pick up the mail first. Turns out I was right...it was my mom calling from NYC. She had already left a message and she forgot to turn off her cellphone, so I could hear all sorts of conversation going on. I kept shouting into the phone and nobody heard me. So I hung up, called my aunt's cell (who is in NYC with my mom) and she wasn't with them at the time, so she called my SIL's mother's phone and had Mom call me back.

I got to talk to my brother Scott for a few minutes. The Navy flew him to NYC in the middle of his deployment so he could be there for the surgery. I'm so glad he's there. He sounded tired and slightly sick, but otherwise fine. And my mom is over the moon at being able to meet her granddaughter at long last. I'm so happy for her.

I just wish I could be there right now too.

I've been a bit sick myself today...just all the stress I've been under this week finally catching up with me. I thought I might have to go home early from work or something, but I forced myself to get through the day. It's not like I was super busy or anything, although I ended up trying to chase down a lot of clients who weren't around for their regularly scheduled payroll appointments. A client finally called me today after I left him 4 voicemail messages and an email, and he was perfectly wonderful and delightful and I had fun chatting with him. At the end of the conversation, he said, "so you're my new payroll specialist, huh?" I said, "yeah, I guess so...if you'll have me." And he said, "absolutely! I love you!" HAHAHA. I'm glad some people are okay with the transition between their old payroll specialist and me.
