So my day started out rough.
Reece had me up for a good portion of the night, so I was exhausted this morning. I fought with her crate...the crate won. There is a partition that goes in so we can make the crate smaller for her now and expand it as she gets bigger. I was trying to put the partition back in and it got jammed in a rather lopsided fashion and I can't fix it. Not sure all the brute strength in the world can fix it. So that will be fun for Lance to fix when he gets home.
So I spent a good chunk of the morning trying to take care of that.
Went to work an hour early. Was in a surly mood for that first hour. Didn't get much done in the way of work...I should've been studying. Instead, I wrote a longish email to Andrea, just venting about the events of the past week.
At 8, most of my co-workers started trickling in. Sierra came to my cubicle first with a Kung Fu Panda balloon. They were out of birthday balloons. Then Sondra came in with a small sprig of some kind of flower and some chocolate chip cookies.
After lunch, a white cake with lemon filling appeared, with yellow frosting roses and "Happy Birthday Karyn" written on it. This was from my supervisor, but I knew he was doing it because he asked me what kind of cake I wanted. My co-workers sang to me, and while they won't win any glee club awards, it was truly the thought that counted. I even got gifts: a pretty green floral journal and some chocolate.
One of my clients even sang to me when she answered the phone for our payroll appointment. I loved it. She's one of my favorite clients.
Around 6 this evening, Ruby came with a pot of mini roses and an ice cream cake. We went to Himitsu Teriyaki to pick up some dinner. We both got the chicken/potsticker/egg roll combo. Huge amount of food. We came back to my place and watched Girl With a Pearl Earring. I let Ruby pick the movie since I knew I would be chasing after Reece half the night.
I got text messages, a lot of emails, and a lot of Facebook/Live Journal messages. Far-flung friends and family came through for me today in many ways. I've been feeling so low lately...and today really helped lift my spirits a lot.
But now I need to think about getting me and the Munchy off to bed.
Thanks everyone, and good night. And there's still plenty of ice cream cake in the freezer, so come on over. ;)
