Dog Days

Happiness is coming home early from work on a sunny and warm early summer day and spending the afternoon taking a long, leisurely nap with your dog.

In other news, we discovered a miracle contraption that will greatly help us walk Reece. She's a horrible walker...always pulling on the leash and trying to change the pace of our walk and grabbing the leash in her mouth. Our trainer put one of those gentle leader things on her - it was the Petsmart brand, not the actual Gentle Leader brand - and even though Reece hates having that thing around her mouth, she can no longer pull on the lease. It made walking with her so much better, so I can finally make sure she gets the exercise she needs. And she'll get used to it...eventually. She wore it the entire way home and didn't rub or pull at it anymore after awhile. In fact, she fell asleep.

Hot weekend ahead...temperatures in the 90's expected. We're going to the beach tomorrow, but I suppose I need to get some sunscreen. We don't have any.

As much as I want to really relax and enjoy this weekend, I'm also insanely excited about going to Ohio next weekend. But I still have 4 days of work ahead, it's Quarter End, and those days are going to be an absolute nightmare. I'm trying not to think of it.

Instead, I choose to sit here with a glass of California Zinfandel. And I choose to think about our plans tomorrow and how I'm really excited that we're not spending the weekend painting the living room (our original plan). It's just going to be way too hot for that. Besides, we have nowhere to put Reece while we're doing it.

At puppy class tonight, we had to switch dogs. Everyone had to switch dogs every few minutes, so that we all got acquainted with every dog in class. Reece absolutely loved it, attention whore that she is. Other dogs...not so much. The last dog Lance and I were with was absolutely terrified and hid under a chair, shaking violently.
