It is currently 89 degrees in our house.

That's pretty sad when we have to go outside to cool off. (It's 86 outside.)

Houses don't generally come with air conditioning here.

And tomorrow is supposed to be 94 degrees.

We were going to go to the beach. But we got Reece a little wading pool last night and filled it with water today and she was very scared of it. I picked her up and put her in it twice, and she acted like I was sticking her in a vat of acid. Later on, she very gingerly put one paw in the water, and then immediately pulled it out.

She's a Lab, for crying out loud! She's supposed to love water! So...no beach today. I have no doubt the beach is insanely crowded anyway, and she still can't behave properly around people (she loves people so much and wants to jump on everyone and lick them all over). She would go crazy at the beach.

I do want to get out of the house though...desperately. But we can't leave the dog here in this heat. She's currently passed out on the floor and her legs are doing that little twitchy thing that dogs do when they dream. I was passed out for a good deal of the afternoon myself.

But I won't complain. Two weeks ago, I was still wearing my winter clothes and we still had the heat on. I would always rather be too hot than cold.

Tomorrow is Lance's birthday, and to escape the misery for part of the day, we're going out to breakfast in a nice air-conditioned building, and then we're driving down to McChord. I have a DQ Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard cake for him in the freezer right now. I'm not sure how we'll spend the rest of the day tomorrow, but we should really spend the hottest part of it with Reece. We have ways of cooling her down. He wanted me to bake a homemade macaroni and cheese tomorrow night, but I'm really not enthused about turning on the oven. I have no doubt that it'll be above 90 in the house tomorrow.

Augh! That sucks! I know what it's like to have that kind of heat indoors, and it's a lot worse than way higher temperatures than that outdoors. Good luck staying cool!

Maybe you can use treats while standing in the pool to get Reese to go in? Or maybe have her see other dogs comfortable in the water?
