Lance and I just got back from Red Robin, where we had dinner with our friends Rich and Kathy and their little boy. It was a nice time. Their bleu cheese burger is awesome. And Rich and Kathy (both of whom adore Reece...Rich is kind of like Reece's 2nd daddy), kept talking about how great we are with her and what responsible pet owners we are. It was really great to get that kind of feedback. They want us to bring Reece over to play with their dog again really soon.

Anyway...lots going on today. Lance and I did our usual biweekly shop at the commissary and base exchange. We bought a steam vac. Lance researched it on Consumer Reports and we bought the special pet detergent. We are hoping to get the stains out of our carpet and the sofa (it has an upholstery attachment). We don't really have a place to put the steam cleaner right now...we'll probably have to store it in the garage. I am trying to make room for it in the guest room closet. I was a bit reluctant to get it at first since we can rent a steam vac, but spending $250 for a steam vac is cheaper than replacing our sofa or carpet. And the sofa is pretty badly stained (mostly from the stain removers I used to try and clean up stains) and the carpet has some pet spots on it that drive us crazy every time we look at them.

My car got its first oil change at Firestone today while we were shopping on base (and it's not because of negligence, since I've had my car for 7 months...I'm not even at 3000 miles yet and it came with synthetic, so we felt comfortable going longer without one).

The guest room is much improved from this morning. You can actually sleep in the bed now and the closet has been completely reorganized. I'm just trying to find a chest of drawers or something to replace the desk that's in there. Need to go to Goodwill and see what I can find there.

We bought a shower caddy - the kind that is a tension rod going from floor to ceiling. It's the only kind that works in our master bathroom shower. The other shower caddy we were using (which was always getting unbalanced and dropping its contents in the shower) is going in the guest bath, where it actually fits the way that it's supposed to in the shower.

Linens have been washed. We still have work to do in the garden, curtains to hang, and decorative touches to put in the guest room.

But things are coming along.

Now I just need to find something to do with the rest of my evening. There is still a lot of work to do, so I feel like I should do something, but part of me just wants to plop down on the couch and watch Dirty Dancing.

Reece hasn't eaten anything all day either, and she's been leaving a lot of her food untouched lately. I don't know how worried I should be. She doesn't seem sick. Her energy level seems fine. She's been more listless today because of the heat, but that's not abnormal for her either.

ETA: She's eating...FINALLY! She still had her scoop from breakfast in her dish, and she was supposed to get one at lunch and one at dinner (she gets 3 cups of food a day). And Lance and I have hardly fed her any treats today in the hopes that she would be hungry for her food.

We feed Reece Pedigree Large Breed Puppy formula. It's what she ate at her foster family's house, so we didn't want to change it. She has a beautiful, shiny coat and everyone always remarks on how shiny she is, so I figure it's doing something good for her.

I wonder if she's getting bored with it though. She better not be, because we just started her on a 40 lb. bag a couple days ago.
