Blah...

I have had absolutely no appetite today whatsoever, and I have no idea if this is because of the ginormous burger I had at Red Robin last night or the heat or my headache or what.

My entire diet today: a container of Dannon la Creme yogurt with strawberries and organic granola, a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, a peanut butter Fiber One granola bar, a pomegranate fruit strip, a bowl of Grape Nuts...2 cups of green tea, 2 cups of Crystal Light and water.

That's it. That's all I ate today. I practically had to choke down the Grape Nuts (that was dinner). It got hot in the house. I had a bad headache. I ran out of steam to do household chores somewhere around 2 pm.

But the guest room is basically done. The laundry room is finally organized...a project we've been putting off since we moved in (and really, that's not a room so much as it is a closet, so there is no excuse for putting it off).

Time to take a shower and read for a bit before bed. The weekend went by too fast. I've just spent the past couple hours reading back over my travel blog and looking at photos and remembering all my wonderful experiences.

My life is so boring now. It makes me sad.

I'm sorry you are feeling the downsides of stateside living - I can see (after reading your blog for so long) what a change it must be to go from all your adventures abroad ...back to the motherland. Lance must be gone a lot and too busy for you all to make travel plans to say ... Alaska -- places in Canada ... Cali and such? It seems like he's busier than ever and with the house and all I guess you are having to work extra hard so less time off? Anyways, I figured you guys would be traveling in no time around your area and such and if not now sooner than later.

I'd be so excited to get Fort Lewis - you have no idea. I would be so excited to meet you if I did.

I would love if you could get Fort Lewis too. I know it's so far away from your family, but really, you get used to it after awhile. And I would have another person to travel with. :)

Travel - most definitely! Oh, I hate being so far but I really have become resigned to it as a fact of military life. If I'm going to be a plane-ride away from family I might as well be somewhere that's worth the distance. Washington state has always been on my heart-list for places to visit and live.

I've been feeling as if my life has gotten pretty boring too...I miss traveling!!! But we've tried to do a couple of day trips in the area and hope to continue exploring once the baby is here too. Really this part of the country is amazingly beautiful.

I don't know how much vacation time you get, but perhaps with labor day weekend coming up - you & Lance could plan a getaway to Vancouver or Victoria? Or a drive to the Washington wine country? (Yakima's not far) Close & affordable!

Lance and I are already planning to go to Victoria for our anniversary in October. We're doing the Clipper. I know we get an awesome discount.

Lance hasn't been in downtown Seattle yet, so I'm hoping we can actually do that over Labor Day weekend...take him to Pike Place Market and maybe do a harbor cruise or something. It's just not as easy to take the dog places as it is to take a baby, unfortunately, so we would have to have someone watch her for a day or two.

My brother is coming next weekend and wants me to go to Portland with him. I would, except Lance comes back from his TDY that weekend and I need to pick him up at the airport. And again...need to find a place to board the dog.

1. I haven't used it yet, but Tom Narak recommended Holiday Kennels (http://www.holidaykennel.com/) when I had been inquiring about kennels. They looked good because they arrange outdoor walks - Petsmart's Pethotel never lets the dogs go outside which I wasn't crazy about. I got so spoiled in Germany with the excellent pet care. The kennel we used there was wonderful.

2. Go see Portland!! Think of it as a mental health getaway - it sounds like you need an adventure! :) Lance can always take a cab home or leave the car in parking. Jason often takes a cab because his flights leave sooo early and I'm not so good in the mornings. I think he said the cab cost around $30 from our house. I've also seen parking just outside the airport for around $9/day. It'd be a small tradeoff so you can get away for a weekend...besides, good opportunity to spend a little extra time with your brother and his family!

3. We did the day trip on the clipper up to San Juan Islands over the fourth - I wrote about it here:

It was great!! Lots of military folks on the boat with us the day we went. I'm hoping to do the Victoria one in the future. My mom says Victoria is just like being in England, which I adore. :)
