My dog, the food critic
Aug. 15th, 2008 05:55 amSo maybe Reece is just picky...or not.
After all, this is a dog that eats horse poop and mulch.
But anyway...
We've been slowly going through these food samples I got from Mud Bay. I've been mixing small amounts of them with her current food since I don't want to risk her getting an upset stomach (although I can't imagine any of this food upsetting her stomach if mulch doesn't upset it).
Her reaction to every one so far as been excitement...the first brand especially, she almost knocked me over every time I got out the little bag. And with every single brand, she has spit out her old food all over the floor, ate only the new food, and then went back and ate the old food after she realized that she wasn't getting any more.
So...let's summarize the brands:
First Mate Potato and Fish, Puppy Formula - she LOVED this. She actually cried every time I got it out, so excited was she to eat it. I never saw her inhale food so fast.
Karma Organic Dog Food, Puppy Formula - not quite as excited with this stuff, but loved this too. Inhaled it. I'm not entirely sure what it's main flavor was, but I think it was chicken.
This morning, I opened up Innova. It has various meat and veggie flavors.
She didn't knock me down...she sniffed the bag curiously, and then wagged her tail as she watched me mix it in with the Pedigree. Then she followed the same M.O...spitting out the Pedigree, inhaling the new stuff, going back and eating the Pedigree. I think she likes it. I have it mixed in with her lunch and dinner portions that I'm taking to Petsmart today.
Anyway - I slept horribly last night. I wanted to watch gymnastics, but didn't want to stay up until 1 am. So I fell asleep during the earlier events and Reece woke me up about halfway through the gymnastics competition. So I watched the rest of that. But she proceeded to get me up two more times after I went back to sleep...and it seems like one of those times was only to go mess around in the backyard, and not to actually go potty. So I had to go outside in the darkness (our back porch light only illuminates half the yard) to try and track down my black dog so I could drag her inside. I was pretty ticked off at her...she did that twice to me last night, but the first time was when gymnastics was on anyway, so I was in no hurry to get back to bed.
So I have to drag myself through my day today. I'll live. Lance comes home today, and that's exciting enough to keep me going.

Watching the Olympics...
Date: 2008-08-15 01:19 pm (UTC)We saw Michael Phelps swim before 8pm last night because they are running it live and not delaying it like NBC is. SO much better for me, as I'm definitely an early-to-bed kinda gal right now...
Re: Watching the Olympics...
Date: 2008-08-15 01:29 pm (UTC)NBC can suck it. Seriously...do they not realize that people have jobs and might not want to stay up until 1 am to watch the main events? Sure, I can tape it...but there is so much coverage to tape, I would never be able to watch it all.
