A trip to the dump this morning, and now most of our clutter is GONE!
This was followed by a trip to Michaels, where I picked up picture frames, mats and one art print that was 25% off (a small print to hang in the bathroom).
I've just spent an hour or so framing things. My photography looks AWESOME. Brightly colored flowers matted with plain white mats and white metal frames. I just need to buy a new mat because I somehow bent one of them when I was getting the plastic wrap off of it. At least they're cheap.
When we first moved into the house, my aunt sent me a lovely housewarming gift - an art portrait she took of me when I was 2-3 years old. It was a bit torn up and stained, and I had asked her to restore it, but she decided that it would be better to get it custom matted instead. She thought the tears and stains made it look even more vintage (it was already sepia-toned). The mat had a space cut into it for one of Lance's childhood photos. So I asked his mom to send me one, which she did, but it's not an art portrait - it's just a studio portrait. Last night we scanned it into my computer, I converted it to greyscale (at the time, I couldn't really tell if my picture was black and white or sepia, but now that they are side by side, it's definitely sepia). I uploaded it to Walgreen's and ordered a printout, which I picked up today. We have a beautiful frame for these photos, and it looks pretty good. I'm just not particularly happy with the way Lance's photo came out. I need to send it to my aunt and see if she can tweak it in Photoshop. First she needs to change it to sepia, then she needs to play around with the contrast a little or do some effects so that is is more closely matched to mine. I don't quite have the Photoshop skills that she has.
For now, the pictures will work. They're not perfect, but Mom will be pleased to see them. Once I get a better picture, I can switch out the one that is currently in there.
Anyway, I'm a bit battered and bruised from yesterday. I was doing laundry and Lance was in the garage. You enter the house from the garage through the laundry room. So he started coming in as I was bent over putting laundry in the washing machine. The door hit the washing machine door, which slammed into my face. I have a cut above my right eyebrow.
Total accident. And then a few hours later, I bruised my back.
So I'm in a bit of pain, especially my back. But I'm pleased with what we got accomplished this weekend.
In other news, we are seriously considering doing agility training with Reece. There is a club near our house and once she goes through agility training, we can take her to practices regularly. She can start competing in another year. We've had a few people suggest that she would be really good at agility training, and she is already a very fast runner and a high jumper.
