prosodicHome Depot came out today for a window consultation. The price they quoted us is about $5k more than what we were estimating, and I highly doubt that anyone else can come close to beating that price.
It hurts. It really does. But we have a plan for financing. The windows are an absolute necessity, so there is no way around it. Honestly, if we had any idea the windows were in such horrible condition when we made an offer on this house, we wouldn't be living here now. Nobody in their right mind would buy a house that would require a total window replacement within a year.
Of course, this means that I'll have to give up any notions I had that we would have a romantic weekend getaway to Victoria for our 5th wedding anniversary. Not going to happen now. We can probably manage a day trip to somewhere, though. I had my heart set on Victoria and it's a relatively inexpensive travel package (especially with the military discount), but responsibilities always trump luxuries.
