Sep. 10th, 2008 08:03 pmLance has spent the evening doing some work in the backyard. He closed off most of it with a 4 ft. chicken wire fence, designed to keep Reece out. He put down the Moss-Rid or whatever it was he bought and watered it really well.
This is going to be our situation for about 2 months now. Reece has less than 1/4 of the yard to play in, so we'll have to take her for a lot more walks.
Champion called. They're coming out on the 26th to do the critical measurements for the windows. We had hoped for an earlier appointment, because the earlier they can get here, the sooner we can get our windows. At this point, we're looking at getting them in early November. Not happy about that, but what can we do? The time frame wouldn't have been much sooner with Home Depot, and with what we're saving, I would rather wait an extra 2-3 weeks.
Meanwhile, I've started getting birds at the feeder. It's weird, because we have a wooded area behind our house, but I hardly ever saw anything besides Stellar's Jays and crows. Now that I have the feeder up, I'm seeing chickadees. I just ordered a National Geographic field guide to keep on hand and help me identify the birds that I see. I had a field guide for European birds because we got a nice variety in our backyard without even having to feed them. Now I'm curious to see what we'll get here.
And to get the free shipping, I ordered a book of my wishlist...a writing guide. I hope it kicks my butt back into gear again. I'm starting to get the creative juices flowing a bit again, but I'm channeling that energy elsewhere other than my writing.
