Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
Mar. 14th, 2008 11:21 amI am so proud of Lance. Three months after we left GK, he is still making an impact!
I got this email from Andrea today:
I just attended the Annual Aircrew Awards on base today, and Lance won an award! He got the System Technician of the Year award!! (At least I think that is what it was called - isn't system technician his job on the jet?) You probably already knew this, but I thought I'd tell you in case Lance forgot to mention it :-) That is a really major award - it means that he was the best ST on base (of the Americans). Awesome!!! Tell Lance Congrats for me and congratulations to you too - since I think half the award belongs to you!
I'm not even sure he knows about this. I just texted him.
YAY Lance! I'm so proud of you, honey!

Mar. 14th, 2008 12:01 pmGot the itch to start a writing project that has been in the planning stages for almost 5 years now.
Have the prologue and part of the first chapter done. The fun part will be going over old LJ and Blogger entries and taking all those trips down memory lane.
Since I am supposed to take at least 3 pages of writing to my writing group at the next meeting, I plan on bringing this. That is, if I can go. It all depends on whether or not I have a job at that point, and this meeting is 2 weeks away. A lot can happen in two weeks.
But anyway, it's started! YAY!
And I think my motivation is coming right now from a beautiful book I'm reading by Mimi Schwartz at the moment...about the tiny town of Benheim, Germany (where her Jewish father lived) and how they coped with anti-Semitism and the build-up to World War II. It's a wonderfully crafted book...so full of life and richness and humanity. Schwartz is a professor who specializes in classes on writing creative nonfiction. I plan to get the her book Writing True: The Art and Craft of Creative Nonfiction.

Girls Night Out
Mar. 14th, 2008 03:05 pmRuby called, she's home alone tonight, and she wanted to know if I'm up for a night out.
YAY! Of course!
So we're going out for Mexican food and then we're going to the second-run movie theater in Federal Way to see Enchanted. We wanted to see Juno, but it doesn't seem to be playing anywhere around here.
But yay...Mexican food! It's been ages since I've had a good Mexican meal.
