It's not very often that I get in a cleaning frenzy, but I had one today. Cleaned the bathrooms, the kitchen, and dusted the ceiling fan in our bedroom. Holy mother of God, I have never seen so much dust in my life. I spread a towel out over the bed before I started dusting, and it's a damn good thing I did. The other ceiling fan was taken care of when we painted the ceiling...Lance dusted that one. So that should still be fairly clean.

And I also cooked dinner already, because I'm going to spinning class this afternoon and will probably want to eat pretty quickly after getting home from class. So I thought it a wise idea to plan ahead and make dinner so that it just needs to be reheated in the microwave when I get home.

I just prepared chicken according to a recipe on the side of my Hungry Jack mashed potato flakes box. Dip chicken breast in Italian dressing. Then dredge in potato flakes. Then cook on skillet in 2 TBSP. melted butter (I used one TBSP. olive oil, one TBSP. butter).

Not sure how it will taste, but it turned a very nice golden brown. So that's dinner tonight, with some orzo and peas.

Have a load of linens and cleaning rags in the wash.

Making a grocery list because I have a grocery run this weekend.

Also need to figure out what I'm bringing to Bunco on Friday night. Probably some of those chocolate chip bars I made on Thursday (which are in my freezer), but I also have a whole box of Wheat Thins and a container of cream cheese, so I should make some sort of dip.

On the suggestion of my friend Ruby, I signed up on the email list at Duke's Chowder House, because she said I would get one free entree for signing up, a free entree on my birthday, and occasional free drinks or appetizers. But my free entree for signing up has to be redeemed by 4 weeks from today. So I guess Lance and I have to go to Duke's for dinner at some point, or else let it expire. If nothing else, I'll get a free dinner on my birthday.

I guess I should fix myself some lunch.

Last night's hail still hasn't melted. It froze into one big sheet of ice overnight, and the backyard is still defrosting now.

RIP Conan

This makes me incredibly sick and sad.

I had heard about this incident on the news a few days ago, but at the time, the dog was still living. I hadn't realized that he had died.

I hope they find whoever did this. And I hope this person gets what they deserve.

*sigh*

Just got a call from the new job. Background check still isn't in. I pretty much expected this. They were told to expect about 2 weeks for it to be completed, meaning it should be done by the end of this week.

However, just to cover their bases, they called corporate headquarters to ask what would happen if the background check never comes back. (Seems like they have everything up to 2003 squared away all ready...the big question mark is just those 4 years in Germany.)

They were given permission to wait until April 11th at the latest, and then I can start that following Monday.

So it looks like the 14th will be the latest start date. However, if my background check comes in before that, they will call me and I can start the next day.

Lance is okay with this because he is supposed to get back on the 11th and he wants me to pick him up at the airport. If he gets back while I'm working, he has to have someone from his office come and pick him up.

And I want to pick him up too...I want to be the first person to see him when he gets back. But I also need to put a tourniquet on my hemorrhaging bank account, and I can't do that until I start earning a paycheck.

Went to 24 Hour gym on a one week guest pass.

Somehow, this one week pass got extended to a 24-day pass. Hey, I won't complain! Almost a month for free! Awesome!

So I went to the 24Cycle class, otherwise known as spinning.

And hehehe. I broke the bike.

Never in my 3 years of spinning has this happened. It was pretty funny. The girl on the bike next to me was cracking up.

We were sprinting (and I noticed that I was sprinting twice as fast as everyone else...why were they so slow?) and it felt like the chain just snapped and I no longer had any resistance on the bike.

Luckily, someone had vacated a bike a few minutes before that, so I took over their bike and continued.

Anyway, if I decide to join this gym, I get a pretty generous military discount. I just need to work out my schedule and figure out when the best time would be for me to hit the gym. Their 5:30 AM 24Cycle class is an hour long, which would put me at 6:30 and having to be at work by 8, with a shower and breakfast and a bumper to bumper commute to squeeze in. Their latest evening class is at 5:45, and I'm not sure I could be there on time. Plus, that's their most popular class, so I would probably not get a bike if I don't show up super early.

I'm going to be super sore tomorrow. I didn't miss that feeling. But I'm basically starting over again.
