Lisa and I are going to the cocktail reception tomorrow night. I figured it would also be a good way to do some networking. You never know who you might meet who knows somebody who's looking for a writer or something. Although I realize that Lisa and I are in direct competition with each other for those types of jobs.

Anyway, I got my outfit cobbled together today.

I started out at Kohl's. Tried on a few dresses there. None of them looked good on me. I did find a black lace blouse (with a white lining) that I thought would look great with a black skirt I already have. So I got that. But then it occurred to me that the only good party shoes I had were some black dress sandals. All my other black shoes are loafers or ballerina flats. So I would have to get some new shoes, because I wasn't going to wear the sandals. Wearing the sandals would require going hose-less. And I wasn't going to be sans hose.

So...blouse in hand, I headed to Payless, after not finding any shoes at Kohl's to my liking. Well, Payless didn't have anything either.

Ok...so I needed dress pants. I had tried on a few pairs at Kohl's. None of them looked good on me. There was a Dress Barn, and I know they sometimes have dress pants, so I went in there.

I ended up trying on two things - a very smokin' hot black dress with a ruched waist. It made me look tiny. The dress was awesome and could be dressed up or down...very versatile. I *almost* bought it. But I would still have the same problem with shoes. The other item I tried on was something I swore to God I would never wear in my lifetime - gaucho pants. The sales rep, who called them "palazzo pants" (HAHA) talked me into it. And you know what, they were slimming, they were comfortable, and they actually looked pretty damn good. They were also less expensive than the dress, and no hose were required, so I could wear them with the black sandals. Oh...and the gauchos can be worn casual or dressed up.

So...black gauchos, black lace blouse, black dressy sandals. And I threw on my black suit jacket to see if that looked good and it looked fine. So that will be my ensemble for tomorrow, along with my pretty drop necklace that I bought at a Renaissance fair.

I may still have to go back and get that black dress. I do not have a little black dress in my wardrobe...and since I can wear it casual, it would be fine. I wouldn't have many occasions to dress it up.

I just don't have a good purse to bring along. I have my everyday purse, which is black. I have 2 dressy purses - silver and purple. Neither one will really work.

As much as I would love to bring my camera, it's probably inappropriate. Damn.

So I had another doctor's appointment this afternoon.

I'm supposed to go to physical therapy now. Even though I still complained of pain, not only in my knees, but also in my toes, the doctor thinks that physical therapy is the answer to my problems. I think I'm just going to take my Mom's advice to take Osteo Bi-Flex. She's convinced that I have arthritis and I am too. I just need to find a doctor who takes me seriously enough to give me a referral.

I still need to get bloodwork done. The doctor basically had me bend forward and touch my toes, bend backwards, bend from side to side, stand on tip-toe and lean back on my heels. I have no idea what this exercise proves. And I obviously got my temperature and blood pressure checked, ears, nose and throat.

Nothing much else going on today, except that Lance met me for lunch and we went to Round Table pizza. He spent the entire day working in the garage, and it looks great. I can now park on the other side of the garage and he has access to the work bench.

Mom called me today and told me that Buck has been diagnosed with Erhlichiosis. It's such a rare disease that the vet has never made the diagnosis before.
