Last night, I went to Applebee's and had one drink and then drove home. The drink was weak to the point that I could not taste any alcohol and the effects on my driving ability were non-existant. I know my body very well and I know how I react to alcohol. If I drink a wine cooler (or something else that's weak like that but the alcohol is apparent) quickly, then I feel some sort of weak buzz or warm feeling. If I am feeling any effect of alcohol, I will not drive. When I drink a lot, it is usally planned so that I'm either home already, within walking distance of where I will sleep that night, or I have a dd set up. I probably could drive buzzed, but I'll never find out because it's not worth it.
As for drunken bicycling, it's stupid and irresponsible but I view it in the same light as riding a motorcycle without a helmet. It's your funeral and no one else will likely be injured because of it. The main problem I have with those two activites is that a resonsible driver could be charged for vehicular manslaughter or some such other charge because of the rider's lack of resonsiblity. That and stupidity just really bothers me.
